Veterans of the Kosovo Liberation Army in Peja, are protesting in Rugova against the manner of the demarcation of the border with Montenegro. They said that the recently established Commission has put the signs two days ago. “We have always defended these mountains by shedding blood and if required, we would do the same again,” said the head of the Association of Peja Veternas, Gazmend Syla.

Elmi Recica, chairman of the Kosovo Assembly foreign affairs committee, told the paper that the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro should be brought to the Assembly “to see if there are 2/3 of votes to ratify the agreement”. Recica called on the opposition parties not to allow internal politics to reflect on Kosovo’s engagement for its European agenda. Commenting on recent developments in relations between Kosovo and Serbia, Recica argued that Serbia has plans to destabilise the region.

Kosovo Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, said today in Pristina that the Kosovo Army will be formed very soon. “The decision-making process in the Assembly for the transformation is not as important as it is to have a range of investments in the Armed Forces, to provide the necessary arms and this is possible only through cooperation with the international community. We will make every institutional action in partnership. I have discussed this in the Pentagon too, the Army of Kosovo is reality that will be realized very soon,” he said.

The Commission of experts for measurement of the territory of Kosovo, gathered today for the first time.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, stressed on this occasion that the EU should be aware of the territory it recognized, the territory where the independence was proclaimed.

Montengro’s Foreign Minister, Srdjan Darmanović, said during his visit to Tirana that his country is in good relations with Kosovo. Speaking about demarcation, he said that this matter does not represent a problem for Montenegro, and that it is an internal problem of Kosovo.  “This matter belongs to the political forces in Kosovo to resolve. It is their internal problem,” he said.

Kadri Veseli, President of the Kosovo Assembly and leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), said that this month he will organise a round-table with political leaders to discuss major unresolved issues such as the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities and the border demarcation with Montenegro. Representatives of opposition parties however are saying that they will not attend the roundtable if the ruling parties will only try to “recycle” these issues.

Representatives of opposition parties in Kosovo are adamant that the current version of the border demarcation with Montenegro will not pass and they also claim that Prime Minister Isa Mustafa is well aware of this. Valdete Bajrami, head of the NISMA parliamentary group, told the news website: “If he [Prime Minister Mustafa] tries to bring back the agreement we will reiterate our position against it. Our position is known and the people know that the agreement is damaging and unacceptable for Kosovo.

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said in an interview for the news website that, the best-case scenario for the end of this year would be if the Kosovo Assembly manages to ratify the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro. “The best possible solution would be to ratify the agreement by the end of the year.

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today that the ruling coalition is working to secure the required number of votes to resubmit the demarcation deal with Montenegro in the Kosovo Assembly. Mustafa also said he was confident that the draft law on the border demarcation with Montenegro will be ratified soon.

Fatmir Limaj, leader of the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA), said today that the wall in northern Mitrovica derives from the agreement signed between Kosovo and Serbia on April 2011. He said that discussions in Brussels caused not only the wall but many other problems. “Not only the wall, but everything that derived, including the association, derive from the April agreement.” Limaj said.
