Police arrests a Vetëvendosje activist on EULEX case (Lajmi.net)

Kosovo Police has arrested today Vetëvendosje activist, Blerim Maqestena. According to Vetëvendosje, KP is seeking to arrest many other activists regarding Vetëvendosje’s action against EULEX in 2009. “Re-actualization of this case and many procedural and legal violations, proved that this is a political set-up process with the aim of political persecution of opposition activists”, notes a press release issued by Vetëvendosje. This party requests from the government and Kosovo Police to urgently give up the political arrests and detentions.

There was no attempt of kidnapping; the girl was attacked (KIM radio)

A 17 years old minor reported yesterday the attack - and not an attempted kidnapping reported by some media - to the police station in Gracanica, told Bratislav Trajkovic, Commander of the police station in Gracanica to RTV KIM .

As confirmed, the girl before the prosecutor made a statement, saying that there was an attack and the case was recorded as such.

Six arrested, lawmaker sought, over alleged Kosovo land scam (Reuters)

Police in Kosovo arrested six people as part of an investigation into an alleged land scam that cost the state 30 million euros ($34 million), European Union investigators said on Wednesday.

Azem Syla, a prominent legislator from the ruling party, was the alleged leader of the fraud which is believed to have involved 40 people, the EU police mission in Kosovo said.

Veseli: I fully support efforts for rule of law (Klan Kosova)

Kosovo Assembly President and acting-leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Kadri Veseli, when asked about Kosovo Police and EULEX operation against organized crime in Kosovo today, said Kosovo is committed to the rule of law. “I give my full support to the efforts for rule of law. Prosecution and judiciary shall do their work independently and we will wait for the outcome of their decisions. Either way, we will all be equal before the law,” Veseli said.

The European Union's police mission in Kosovo launched a major operation against organized crime.

Local media reported that police arrested a governing party lawmaker in Wednesday's raids, and police also checked scores of bars and restaurants allegedly managed by criminal gangs.

Thaci: Combating corruption, key to Kosovo’s future in Europe (RTKLive)

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci welcomed today's police operation against corruption and organized crime in Kosovo. “I welcome and strongly support the action of the national and international rule of law authorities. The fight against corruption and organized crime is the key to building a democratic state, the key to our future in Europe. I expect from all those involved in judicial cases to fully cooperate with the police and prosecution,” Thaci wrote on his Facebook page.

Kosovo Police raids cells of two inmates at Dubrava prison (Koha)

The news site reports that the search operation carried out today by EULEX and Kosovo Police has not spared the prisoners in Dubrava prison. The cells of two inmates, Shaban Syla – cousin of PDK MP Azem Syla, and Shpresim Uka – convicted in the case known as Bllaca 2, were raided by police today. The news was confirmed by the general director of Kosovo Correctional Service, Sokol Zogaj. Kosovapress news site reports that the two prisoners were visited by police because their names were on the list of suspects related to today’s police action.

Shots fired at a Serb home in Klina/Kline municipality (Tanjug)

Unknown perpetrators fired shots last night at a Serb house in the Rudica village in Kosovo, Klina/ Kline municipality, Tanjug learned from the sources at Kosovo's Ministry for Return and Communities.

No one was injured in the attack on Zarko Siljkovic's family home. The incident has been reported to the Kosovo Police.

At the time of the incident two people, father and son, were  in the house. The material damage was caused by bullets that hit the wall of the house.
