The warrant was issued for Stojanovic at the request of the UNMIK mission in Kosovo. Interpol office in Kosovo operates within UNMIK.

UNMIK is the only authorized mission that has the ability to, through international cooperation, claim people and exchange information with the countries and organizations that do not recognize Kosovo as an independent state. In this context, UNMIK has the role of intermediary that forwards requests for warrants from EULEX mission, but also from the Kosovo Police.

Two active members of the Kosovo Police (KP) have been interviewed by EULEX in the case surrounding the killing of KP officer Enver Zymberi in 2011. Sources dais that one of the KP members holds the rank of captain and works in the North Mitrovica. EULEX confirmed in conducted searches and interviews of the Kosovo Police officers. Spokesperson Besa Domi said the persons were interviewed in the capacity of suspects.

The Vetevendosje Movement on Tuesday filed criminal charges against the Kosovo Police commanders, for allegedly ordering police officers to exercise violence against protesters on 27 January. Albulena Haxhiu, member of the Vetevendosje Movement, said that on these criminal charges are included cases of violence exerted by Kosovo police, and that these are charges for misuse of official position, threatening lives and torture.

Kosovo Police general director Shpend Maxhuni said they are trying to set up a meeting with leaders of Vetevendosje and agree on modalities regarding the Wednesday protest. Maxhuni made the comments during his reporting before the parliamentary committee on internal affairs, security and supervision of the Kosovo Security Force. He said the Kosovo Police would like to learn from Vetevendosje actions they plan to undertake during the protest.

Riot police fought running battles with protesters hurling rocks and petrol bombs in Kosovo's capital Pristina on Tuesday in the worst unrest since the former Serbian province seceded in 2008.

Triggered by remarks by an ethnic Serb cabinet minister and a row over a disputed mine, the violence was a potent reminder of the depth of popular dissatisfaction in majority-Albanian Kosovo, still mired in poverty and corruption seven years since declaring independence from Serbia.

Police in Kosovo fired tear gas to disperse groups of stone-throwing protesters Saturday as thousands took to the streets of Pristina to demand the dismissal of a Serb minister accused of insulting the ethnic Albanian majority.

The clashes erupted at the end of a rally in the capital at which some 7,000 people, according to police, called on the government to fire Labour and Social Welfare Minister Aleksandar Jablanovic, one of three Serb ministers in Prime Minister Isa Mustafa's cabinet.

One individual was arrested yesterday by Kosovo Police (KP) in the northern border crossing point, Bernjak. RTK reports that the individual, of Serbian nationality from Kosovo, is suspected of smuggling of migrants.

RTK writes that according to sources within KP,  the suspect had in his car two Albanian men who were allegedly to be smuggled towards European countries. The suspect is taken into custody under the prosecutor’s order.

Kosovo police have arrested a Serbian national suspected of planning a terrorist attack, the interior minister told a news conference on Friday.

The suspect, from Belgrade, was arrested on Thursday evening with 12.2 kilos (27 pounds) of explosives in his car in a street in the Kosovan capital Pristina where many Western embassies are located, Skender Hyseni said.

"We suspect the clear aim of this person was to commit a terrorist attack," he told journalists.

Serbian citizen named as Slobodan Gavric, who was arrested in Pristina with 13 kg of explosives in his possession, was placed in 30-day custody on Saturday.

He is held "on suspicion of organising terrorist activities and bringing explosives into Kosovo," Tanjug reported.

Head of the Pristina court of first instance Hamdi Ibrahimi told Tanjug on Saturday Gavric "confessed to the second crime, but stated that he had intended to sell the explosives and denied the first crime."

Kosovo police say they have foiled an apparent attempt to detonate a car filled with explosive material in the capital Pristina.

Police spokesman Baki Kelani said the driver of the car has been arrested and questioned. He said police acted on intelligence and stopped the suspect late Thursday as he drove toward an area where most Western embassies are located, including the United States Embassy.

Kelani said the car had Serbia-issued license plates and that the driver has a Serbian passport, but did not disclose his ethnicity or religion.
