Kurti: Jablanovic’s dismissal, a good lesson for other ministers (RTK)

Albin Kurti, the leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, told RTK today that the dismissal of Communities and Returns Minister Aleksandar Jablanovic was a good lesson for all ministers of the Kosovo government. He said that the coalition of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) with the Serbian List was wrong. Kurti suggested that the PDK and LDK should respect the Constitution of Kosovo by including in the government people like Nenad Rasic "who don’t insult the people of Kosovo and respect the state of Kosovo".

Kosovo fires ethnic Serb minister to avert more violence (Reuters)

An ethnic Serb minister in Kosovo's government was fired on Tuesday to try to avert more violent protests over a remark he made last month that offended the Balkan country's ethnic Albanian majority.

Aleksandar Jablanovic, minister for communities, had branded as "savages" a group of Kosovo Albanians protesting against ethnic Serb pilgrims marking Orthodox Christmas in January.

Death notice for Jablanović on social networks (KIM Radio)

On the eve of new demonstrations organized by the Movement "Self-determination", on social networks is circulating a death notice for Aleksandar Jablanović.

False death notice reads that Jablanović died accidentally on the street, and as mourners are listed Isa Mustafović and Hashim Tačović. The death notice reads: "Dear friends, we inform you that on 1. February 2015 died a DOG. He died accidentally on the street, and the funeral will be held in the Orthodox Church."

Street cannot dismiss me (Vesti)

I have no intention to resign, because I have not violated the law in any moment nor I have offended the citizens by a comment. I've condemned the attack on Serbs on Christmas Eve in Gjakovica/Gjakova, and that's all. Protests and demands of the Self-determination have nothing to do with what I said, told Vesti Aleksandar Jablanovic, the Minister for Communities and Returns in the Kosovo government.

Do you think that they would protest regardless of your statement?

Kurti: Protest will not be called off even if Jablanovic is dismissed (Tribuna)

Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti told a local radio that tomorrow’s protest in Pristina is unavoidable even if the Communities and Returns Minister, Aleksandar Jablanovic, is dismissed. “Even if Jablanovic is dismissed, we will gather at the square to celebrate what we achieved. Nevertheless, we do have another demand, that regarding Trepca,” Kurti said. He expressed doubt that Jablanovic would indeed be dismissed. “Mustafa would rather dismiss himself than Jablanovic,” added Kurti.

Hyseni: Police does not accept ultimatums (Koha)

Kosovo’s Interior Minister, Skender Hyseni, has justified Kosovo Police’s (KP) actions on the protest of 27 January, saying that the police does not accept ultimatums from any group of protesters. Hyseni told the Committee on Internal Affairs and Security that KP would not have retracted after the ultimatum, because according to him, in this case it would have been a "failure of the state." "Protests with ultimatums do not exist in any democratic country in the world,” said Hyseni. He said that at no point he would use the police for political reasons.

Trepca or Jablanovic are not the reasons for the demonstration (Kossev)

Mayor of Gjakovica/Gjakova, Mimoza Kusari-Lila should apologize to displaced citizens of Djakovica/Djakova who were stoned.

It is the position of director of the Pristina Television Klan, Baton Haxhiu, who adds that the mayor should not be calling on Serbs not to come to Djakovica/Djakova on the upcoming memorial service.

He said in the TV show "Free Serbian", broadcasted on Serbian television network in Kosovo, that this message was "political and a big mistake of Mimoza Kusari".

The Serbian list defends Jablanovic (RTS)

The Serbian list assessed the statement of deputy in the Assembly of Kosovo, Nenad Rasic as frivolous and "shameful", that the current Minister of Returns and Communities Aleksandar Jablanovic should resign on moral grounds.

"It is frivolous, shameful and utterly unacceptable that those who had no shred of morality when they were part of the Government of Kosovo speak about what kind of moral act should do some of the current Ministers," the statement said, submitted to Tanjug.

Trajkovic and Spahiu: Jablanović politically immature; to avoid repetition of 17 March 2004 (RTK2)

Serbian politician from Kosovo, Rada Trajkovic and political analyst Nexhmedin Spahiu agree that Minister Jablanović with his statement showed political immaturity. They believe that it would be much better if he would resign, because the ministry will not be functional.

Running battles in the streets of Kosovo (Aljazeera)

Large anti-government protests organised by ethnic Albanian opposition parties erupted in Kosovo’s capital Pristina this week, more than a month after parliamentarians there approved a new coalition government. The protests were the largest since Kosovo unilaterally declared independence from Serbia in 2008.
Many Kosovars are dissatisfied with the new government, which has just ended a six-month political stalemate that followed the parliamentary elections of last June.
