The Serbian-language television channel RTK2 yesterday launched a program on Montenegrin language.
Weekly program in duration of 45 minutes, which will be broadcasted every Thursday at 10:00, will mainly cover issues referring to Montenegrin community in Kosovo. RTK2’s section in Montenegrin language plans to soon start broadcasting a short news program two times per week.
Shkelzen Gashi, political analyst, told Radio Kosova that after the certification of election results, President Jahjaga will seek the interpretation of the Constitutional Court and will then nominate the party or the coalition that will govern the country. “The President will be very careful. Prime Minister of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, expressed deep disappointment over the reinstatement of a barricade on Mitrovica bridge.
The barricade on the main bridge in Mitrovica, which was built three years ago by Serb parallel structures, was removed this morning at 5:00. The so-called Bridge Watchers removed the barricade, and no incidents were reported. During the removal, increased Kosovo Police forces and Italian Carabinieri were seen near the bridge. Mitrovica mayor Agim Bahtiri, who visited the bridge on Tuesday evening, said the removal of the barricade was expected and that he personally deserves the credit. “I have cooperated closely with Western diplomats and with people in the north.
Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), said today that his decision to withdraw from the intention of becoming Prime Minister of Kosovo was a result of the agreement with the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative for Kosovo (Nisma). “I was nominated by the LDK as prime minister of the country. I would not have given up from the responsibility of becoming prime minister if the LDK would have won the elections. Every agreement requires compromise.
British Ambassador to Kosovo, Ian Cliff, said today that parliamentary elections were free and fair. Asked about the LDK-AAK-Nisma coalition, Cliff was quoted as saying, “Kosovar political parties need to talk and agree; this is not our matter because we do not interfere in the process”.
The British Ambassador made these remarks after meeting Gjilan mayor Lutfi Haziri, with whom he discussed economic development in Gjilan, the development of the infrastructure, international donations and the integration of all communities.
Under the slogan “Time to Act”, the campaign for raising awareness for assisting women survivors of the conflict in Kosovo was launched today. This makes Kosovo part of 140 countries to have hosted a performance for supporting raped women.
British Ambassador to Pristina, Ian Cliff, said the initiative for organising such events across the world came after the screening of Angelina Jolie’s film “Land of Blood and Honey” which features women raped in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
