Union of Kosovo Montenegrins complains of intimidation (Koha)

The Union of Kosovo Montenegrins accused the Serbian List of exercising intimidation and even physical violence against members of the Kosovo Serb and Montenegrin communities.  In a statement to the press, the Union of Kosovo Montenegrins condemned recent cases of intimidation ahead of elections saying that “the Serbian List is the biggest enemy of the Orthodox population in Kosovo.” the Union also called on law enforcement authorities to protect the citizens from, as it said, Serbian List “bandits”.

Higher Serb turnout expected in the elections (N1)

Analysts expect a higher turnout in Serbian areas in comparison with the previous elections, because unlike some previous elections there is no pressure to boycott the elections, reported N1.

From NGO AKTIV based in northern Kosovo say they expect a higher turnout because there are no more organized pressure not to vote, but on the contrary, the encouragement to turn out to polls in large numbers.

Braathu: Situation in the north, fragile (Telegrafi)

Head of the OSCE mission in Kosovo, Ambassador Jan Braathu said the situation between Serb political parties in the north of Kosovo is “fragile” and called on them to respect the right to vote. In a visit to the Elections Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) where he presented the Braille ballot, Braathu said the OSCE and the U.S. Embassy issued a joint statement calling for free and fair elections process but that “unfortunately, we are still seeing signs of intimidation”.

Petrović: If we wanted, we could support the establishment of an Army (KIM radio)

President of the Independent Liberal Party (SLS) Slobodan Petrović responded on increasingly frequent statements by representatives of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and the Serbian List that in the case of support to other candidates it would mean the vote for an army of Kosovo, by calling them 'false and insane', reports KIM radio.

The Heads of the EU Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative, the EULEX and the EU Missions in Kosovo welcome the statement issued yesterday by the Chief Observer of the EU Election Observation Mission, Mr Alojz Peterle.

In addition, the Heads of the EU Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative, the EULEX and the EU Missions in Kosovo express concern over reported incidents of intimidation and pressure, such as those witnessed over the past days in the north and elsewhere in Kosovo.
