The head of the Serbian government Office for Kosovo-Metohija, Marko Đurić, opened an exhibition titled "Kosovo-Metohija - 10 steps" at the Serbian Cultural Centre in Paris Tuesday, noting it best reflected the nature and the value of the Serbian heritage in Kosovo-Metohija.

Addressing a large number of ambassadors to UNESCO in attendance, Đurić said the Serbian cultural heritage had been a target of frequent attacks over the past decades, the March 2004 pogrom being the most horrific episode.

Pope Francis "should visit Belgrade and Pristina within the next year," the Belgrade-based Danas daily reported on Wednesday.

The paper was quoting "unofficial Western diplomatic sources" when reporting this, Tanjug said.

According to the report, the sources said Pope Francis had been invited by Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic to pay a first official visit to Belgrade and was willing to do so, and the Serbian Orthodox Church is not against the invitation either.

Serbian PM Aleksandar Vučić on Tuesday received European Commissioner for Transport Violeta Bulc, highlighting the significance of transport projects for the development of Serbia and noting a commitment to establishing cooperation aimed at connecting the entire Western Balkans through a transport network.

Vucic said a motorway connecting Niš, Merdare, Pristina, Tirana and Durres was a priority, as were other projects agreed as part of the Berlin Process, the Serbian government press office said in a statement.

The Serbian Armed Forces Chief of General Staff, General Ljubiša Diković, met in Niš on Tuesday with the KFOR Commander, Major General Guglielmo Luigi Miglietta, who will soon leave the position.

Diković and Miglietta discussed the current security situation in Kosovo and Metohija and along the administrative line with Serbia's southern province, as well as the cooperation between the Serbian Armed Forces and KFOR, the Ministry of Defence said in a statement.

The Serbian government Office for Kosovo and Metohija condemned Monday in the strongest of terms a bomb attack on the home of Radio Television of Kosovo (RTK) Director Mentor Salja, expressing concern over an escalation of violence and extremism in Serbia's southern province.

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic on Wednesday met with Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Foreign Minister Anifah Aman - whose country presides over the UN SC - to discuss Thursday's SC meeting on Kosovo, as well as ways to improve Serbian-Malaysian relations.

Meetings with officials of countries presiding over the UN SC commonly take place ahead of regular sessions on Kosovo, Dacic noted after the meeting in New York.

Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic on Tuesday received UNMIK head Zahir Tanin, who congratulated him on the formation of the new Serbian government, noting the government and Vucic himself were generally seen around the world as the greatest support to maintaining regional peace and stability.

Serbian First Deputy PM and FM Ivica Dacic discussed on Monday with Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General and Head of UNMIK Zahir Tanin the preparations for the upcoming UN SC meeting where a three-monthly report on the mission's work in Kosovo-Metohija will be debated.

Kosovo President Hasim Taci supports the dialogue between the chambers of commerce of Serbia and Kosovo to enable better use of potentials for economic cooperation in the territory, Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Serbia Marko Cadez said Friday after officials of the two institutions met with Taci in Pristina.

Cadez said he and Kosovo Chamber of Commerce President Safet Grdzaliju had for two years been trying to establish more concrete cooperation between the two business communities.

The last round of talks between Belgrade and Pristina at the expert level, which was completed early this morning after 19 hours of negotiations, was a good and positive for the interests of Belgrade, says Marko Đurić, the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija.
