KFOR:More patrols after murder of Serbian Gendarmerie member (Tanjug)

PRISTINA - KFOR Commander Major General Salvatore Farina said in Pristina on Monday that the number of patrols of that military mission and the Serbian Armed Forces in the ground security zone has been tripled since the killing of Serbian Gendarmerie member Stevan Sindjelic.

Sindjelic, 30, a member of the Serbian Gendarmerie from the Kraljevo detachment, was killed in the armed attack by several ethnic Albanians from Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) which took place on August 28, not far from the Merdare crossing at the administrative line between central Serbia and KiM.

Bosko Obradovic denied entry to KiM (Tanjug)

CACAK - Bosko Obradovic, one of the founders and Eldership member of the Dveri Movement member, and also head of an electoral list at this year’s early parliamentary elections in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM), has been banned from entering the province, the movement said in a release Monday.

According to the release, during his return from a private visit to the north of Kosovo, Obradovic was stopped by the Kosovo Albanian police, thoroughly searched and held for a long time without adequate explanation, despite his wife being in the car with him.

Free schoolbooks for children in KiM halted at Jarinje (Tanjug,Politika,KiM radio)

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Assistant Minister of Education, Science and Technological Development Ljubisa Antonijevic said on Monday that trucks carrying free schoolbooks for children in Kosovo-Metohija (KiM) were kept at the Jarinje crossing over the weekend because of some technical problems.

Antonijevic voiced the hope that this issue will be solved by the end of the day, adding that he is in contact with Belgrade's Liaison Officer with Pristina Dejan Pavicevic and the Office for Kosovo-Metohija.

Amnesty: Serbia, Kosovo to conduct investigation on missing (Tanjug)

NEW YORK - On the International Day of the Disappeared, August 30, Amnesty International urges authorities in Serbia and Kosovo to carry out prompt, independent, effective and impartial investigations against those suspected of enforced disappearances and abductions committed before, during and after the international armed conflict in Kosovo in 1999.

U.S.-based international human rights organisation Amnesty International said in its report that 15 years after the end of the armed conflict, around 1,700 people are still missing.

Warrants for arrest of Stevan Vulovic, Slavisa Ristic (Kontakt plus radio, Tanjug)

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Acting EULEX Chief Joelle Vachter stated on Sunday that warrants have been issued for the arrest of Zubin Potok Mayor Stevan Vulovic and former mayor Slavisa Ristic.

In an interview for the Mitrovica-based Kontakt Plus radio, Vachter said that Vulovic is suspected of organising escape of several arrestees, while Ristic is charged with endangering UN and accompanying staff and a grave murder.

Vachter said that EULEX will focus its efforts on countering high-level corruption, fight against organised crime and solving war crimes cases.

Ivanovic’s lawyer: EULEX head interferes with judiciary (Tanjug)

ZVECAN - Reacting to yet another extension of custody for leader of the Citizens’ Initiative “Freedom, Democracy, Justice” (GI SDP) Oliver Ivanovic, his lawyer Nebojisa Vlajic said Wednesday that the head of EULEX was interfering in the work of judicial authorities in Kosovo, as he had been announcing that extension for a few days before the decision had been made.

EULEX spokeswoman Dragana Nikolic-Solomon told Tanjug yesterday that Ivanovic’s custody had been extended by another two more months, to October 26.

Pristina did not implement Brussels agreement in full (Tanjug)

KOSOVSKA MITROVICA - Head of the Serbian government office for Kosovo Marko Djuric has said that the Kosovo authorities are responsible for the fact that the Brussels agreement on the normalisation of relations between Belgrade and Pristina has not been implemented in full.

A very important part of that document, signed in Brussels on April 19, 2013, has not been implemented, the one referring to the creation of the legal framework needed to establish the Association of Serb Municipalities, he said in Kosovska Mitrovica on Tuesday.
