The plan for Kosovo is ready; We will not sign independence (Vecernje Novosti)

“I am afraid that the issue of independent Kosovo will be a condition for Serbia’s membership in the European Union. President "not optimistic" after meeting with German FM (Beta, B92, Vecernje Novosti)

President Tomislav Nikolic has said that he is "not very optimistic" after his talks with German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier in Belgrade Tuesday.

Nikolic explained this was the case "because he did not hear from Steinmeier that the chapters in the negotiations with the EU will be opened this year."

"I cannot say that Mr. Steinmeier told me clearly that the chapters will open by the end of the year. True, he said that he thought conditions would be there for that during the year," Nikolic told the daily Vecernje Novosti on Wednesday.

Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has said that he was glad that the agreement on the judiciary in Kosovo was reached in Brussels.

Speaking for the Novi Magazin publication, he at the same time expressed concern that Serbia is not ready to, "with the number of judges and prosecutors," immediately begin its implementation.

"I did not see anybody in the past year preparing for a solution that can be immediately applied. Do we even have such personnel in Kosovo and Metohija? I think we do not," said Nikolic.

The Serbian highest officials will present the announced plan for Kosovo and Metohija to our most important national institutions, before they present it to the domestic and international public. 

The new plan, which will together compose the head of state, Tomislav Nikolic and Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic will be presented to the Patriarch and the bishops of the Serbian Orthodox Church. It will be also presented to the leading men of the Serbian Academy of Sciences, experts in law and international politics and the most relevant political actors in the country.
