Protesters urinate inside Serbian church (Akter, KIM radio, RTK2, B92, Tanjug)

Kosovo's Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic condemned on Sunday in the strongest terms the desecration of the Christ the Saviour Cathedral in Pristina.

The Serbian Orthodox church was desecrated by a group of protesters during Saturday's opposition riots in Pristina.

Stojanovic said the behaviour was shameful and uncivilized and that it was unacceptable that police watched the protesters who have entered the church, and did nothing.

UNMIK concerned over violence on the protests in Pristina (B92, Kontakt plus, RTK2)

The United Nations Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK) voiced concern on Saturday about the violence observed at the protests in Pristina's city center, during which Molotov cocktails, stones and other objects were thrown at the government building and police.

“Such acts by certain individuals have no place in a democratic society and have nothing to do with the legitimate right to peaceful protest expressed by many others,” UNMIK said in a release.

We expect that Constitutional Court will confirm the constitutionality of the Agreement on A/CSM (RTK2)

Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister Branimir Stojanovic said in an interview for RTK2 that his expectations are that decision on Association / Community of Serb municipalities (A/CSM) will be brought as soon as possible. Stojanović expects that the Constitutional Court of Kosovo will confirm that an agreement on the formation of the A/CSM is in accordance with the Kosovo Constitution. In opposite situation, the Brussels led dialogue between Kosovo and Serbia could be jeopardized.

Numerous problems of Serbs in Gnjilane (RTK2)

Serbs in Gnjilane/Gjilan claim that their problems are numerous and that they have been forgotten by both, Serbian and Kosovo institutions.

St. Nicolas Church in Gnjilane/Gjilan is the only place where remaining Serbs from this town are gathering, but after the earthquake in 2003 the Church is in bad condition and needs reconstruction. Local health center in vicinity of the Church is also not functioning because of lack of staff.

New houses for 12 returnee families (RTK2)

Minister for Communities and Returns Dalibor Jevtic visited the municipality of Srbica/Skenderaj and Istok/Istog. Jevtic handed over the keys of newly built houses for 12 returnee families.

In the municipality of Srbica/Skenderaj, in the villages of Suvo Grlo and Banje, Jevtic has promised to build a new kindergarten by European standards and the implementation of priority projects in these two places.

Djurić: Do not mix Chapter 35 with the dialogue with Pristina (B92, NMagazin, RTK2)

Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija Marko Djuric says that the fact that Serbia will open first Chapter 35, about Kosovo, does not mean that the EU accession process and the dialogue with Pristina should be mixed.

Djuric told B92 that the false belief that the talks with Pristina are important for Belgrade just because of EU accession, stating that they are important because of internal stability and the status of citizens in Kosovo.

Petrovic: To increase engagement of the police in Serbian areas (RTK2, Blic)

Deputy President of the Assembly of Kosovo Slobodan Petrovic says that the incidents in Gorazdevac and Srbobran show that a greater involvement of the police is necessary in the Serbian areas.

Petrovic on Wednesday visited Gorazdevac with President of the Kosovo Parliament Kadri Veseli, and urged the competent authorities to urgently find and punish the perpetrators who fired shots in Gorazdevac and Srbobran.

Zbogar: A/CSM will be formed (RTK2)

European Union Special Representative in Kosovo, Samuel Zbogar, appealed once more on the opposition parties to accept the political dialogue. "We hope that the Assembly will soon start to function normally. Our position is clear - the violence as a political tool is not acceptable," said Zbogar. He believes that the Association / Community of Serb Municipalities (A/CSM) will be formed, but that it is required the opinion of the Constitutional Court.
