Vukadinovic: Kosovo's lawsuit against Serbia will not happen (IRS)

The announcement of the self-proclaimed Kosovo state’s head of diplomacy Hashim Thaci that Pristina is working on the preparations for the lawsuit against Serbia for genocide is in the realm of fantasy, and at issue is the case of Thaci and his peers from the so-called KLA avoiding the responsibility before the future Special Court of War Crimes in Kosovo, political analyst Djordje Vukadinovic has told the International Radio Serbia.

The paper reports that statement of Kosovo’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs, Hashim Thaci, that Kosovo will file a lawsuit against Serbia for war reparations, was considered as delayed, depressing and hardly feasible. For 15 years, Kosovo has not undertaken a single step that would put Serbia in front of justice for the crimes committed and for the material damages in Kosovo.

Kosovar FM Hashim Thaci said that he could not give an exact date, but added that Kosovo will apply to the International Court of Justice after evaluating "internal and international circumstances."

Kosovo’s Foreign Minister  Hashim Thaci signaled Friday that Kosovo will ask for “war reparations” from Serbia on charges of genocide during the 1998-99 war.

“We are discussing and working on it,” Thaci, who also serves as Kosovo’s deputy prime minister, told The Anadolu Agency in an exclusive interview.

Chapters hit the Berlin Wall (Vecernje Novosti)

Berlin seeks implementation of the entire Brussels Agreement. The beginning of the negotiations will not be on the agenda of the European Council until the autumn session.

Serbia could open the first chapters in early fall; if all the points from the Brussels agreement were applied - Novosti learns at the top of the European administration.

It is certain, however, that the judicial agreement reached at the last round of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, will not unlock chapters of Serbia with the EU.

Mihajlovic: Highway and railroad to be constructed with Albanians (Tanjug)

The technical working group of Serbia and Albania today will review two projects of regional importance – construction of a railroad and a highway, which are due to be presented by the prime ministers during May in the European Commission, said the Deputy Prime Minister in the Serbian Government and Minister for Construction, Traffic and Infrastructure, Zorana Mihajlovic. Two projects amount to EUR 2 billion.

UN Raps Serbia Over Wartime Missing Persons (Balkan Insight)

The United Nations Committee on Enforced Disappearances told Serbia that it was still failing to meet its international commitment to resolve the fate of missing persons from the 1990s wars.

The UN committee admonished Belgrade for not doing enough to uphold the rights of people who disappeared and their relatives, who it said “are still waiting for justice and reparations for the war crimes and crimes against humanity during the wars of the 1990s”.

Fewer attempted illegal border crossings (B92)

The number of attempted illegal crossings on the Serbian-Hungarian border has dropped, Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic has said.

He made the statement during a meeting with Austrian Interior Minister Johanna Mikl-Leitner.

Stefanovic met with Mikl-Leitner late on Wednesday to brief her on the current situation in the field of illegal migrations.
