Assembly session to resume on 24 August (RTK)

The Chairman of the consultative meeting of Kosovo political parties, Adem Mikullovci, announced that he will call resumption of the Kosovo Assembly session for 24 August, as proposed by the PAN coalition.

Vetevendosje movement did not participate at the meeting, while all the other political parties agreed with the PAN’s proposal to hold the session on 24 August.

The PAN representative, Enver Hoxhaj, requested for the session to be held on the date and also stressed that sessions should not be called unilaterally without a joint agreement.

LDK proposes a round-table to address the Constitutional Court (RTK)

Head of the Parliamentary Group of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), Avdullah Hoti, proposed today a round-table of the political parties to discuss the manner of addressing the Constitutional Court, with regards to the unblocking of the works of the Assembly. “It is well known that PAN is the blocker. I hail the statement of the ambassadors. This situation cannot go on, and we are considering constitutional steps and working on clarification of the judicial ground. We will call a round-table to discuss and address the Constitutional Court,” Hoti said.

Hoti: PAN does not have enough votes (Telegrafi/Koha)

LAA coalition’s candidate for prime minister, Avdullah Hoti, said after the closing of today’s constitutive session of the Assembly that it is clear PAN coalition has not secured enough votes to form new institutions. “We should have had a new Assembly and Government three weeks ago”, Hoti said adding that Kosovo cannot afford to lose any more time.

Candidate for prime minister from the LDK-AKR-Alternativa coalition (LAA), Avdullah Hoti, said the coalition representatives agreed on future actions.  “Citizens of Kosovo had their saying and I don’t believe there is a need to lose any more time for creating leading institutions and calling [Assembly’s] constitutive session as soon as possible”, Hoti said after the meeting of coalition partners. Asked by the media on whether they would attend the meeting called by President Hashim Thaci, Hoti said: “We are considering whether to go or not.

Hoti: if PAN fails, we will form new government without PDK (Kosovapress)

LDK-AKR-Alternativa candidate for prime minister, Avdullah Hoti, called on political parties in Kosovo to respect constitutional timeframes regarding the formation of the new government. He said Kosovo cannot afford to waste a single day without institutions in place. Hoti however said that they are not ready to cooperate with PAN coalition led by the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK).  "We are not ready to cooperate with them and technically, it would be imposible for PAN coalition to form a government", Hoti said.

Finance Minister: Four percent economic growth this year (Klan Kosova)

Finance Minister, Avdullah Hoti, said that the government of Kosovo expects to close the year with 4 percent economic growth and the estimates are that this figure will be even higher in 2017. “We have a significant improvement in tax payment,” said Hoti in the meeting of the parliamentary commission on budget and finance.  He added that if progress is made in projects including energy and the Trepca mining complex, “we can rest assured that the economic growth will be much higher.”
