“The most important thing now is for Pristina to get a new government as soon as possible and for that government to do whatever it takes to continue the dialogue with Belgrade, including the abolition of tariffs on goods from Serbia and Bosnia and Herzegovina”, US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, Matthew Palmer said, Serbian media report.

“We hope it can be resolved soon”, Palmer added in an interview for Voice of America.

The continuation of the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue has nothing to do with the possible elections in Kosovo, but solely with taxes, said Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic this morning in morning TV Prva Show.

Brnabic called the current political developments in Kosovo a farce, thus answering the question how the possible elections and political turmoil in Kosovo will reflect on further dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina and when its continuation can be expected at all.

Chairman of the Serbian National Assembly Committee for Kosovo and Metohija, Milovan Drecun told RTS in order to continue the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue it is necessary to revoke the tariffs and stronger engagement of the international community.

RTS recalled that EU Enlargement and Neighborly Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn said earlier resolution of the Kosovo issue is a priority for the international community and it is crucial for the development of an entire region. At the same time, the EU did not make Pristina revoke the tariffs so far.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said the importance of continuing Belgrade-Pristina dialogue was discussed today during her meeting with EU Enlargement and Neighbourly Policy Commissioner Johannes Hahn, Radio kontakt plus reported. She also expressed a hope an initiative that would enable Pristina to reconsider its stances and turn towards the regional cooperation would emerge.

Commenting on return of Kosovo Prime Minister Ramush Haradinaj from The Hague, Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told Prva TV he has already said Haradinaj would spend 24 or 48 hours there and then come back.

“I have already said he would spent 24 or 48 hours there. Enough to check what hotels there are like. He waited to come during the night so the image would be more impressive, like a hero,” Vucic said.

French President Emmanuel Macron plans to appoint a special envoy for the Western Balkans, who would have an active role in resolving the Kosovo issue, Belgrade-based Blic daily reports today.

According to unofficial findings, President Macron has informed Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic about the plan during his visit to Serbia. The daily further continues Macron intents to actively engage in this region.

Head of EU Delegation in Serbia, Sem Fabrizi said the EU will not change its stance on the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina regardless of election of a new administration, RTS reports.

He recalled the stance of the EU is the dialogue should continue and reach a legally binding agreement.

Speaking about Serbia’s EU integration he noted the message is clear – continue with reform and there would be progress.

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic said today he hopes messages of the US Congressman Eliot Engel in Pristina would contribute to creating conditions for continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, RTS reported. The sooner we continue the dialogue, the possibilities to reduce tensions would increase, Vucic added.

President Vucic met with the Chairman of the House of Representatives Foreign Policy Committee, Congressman Eliot Engel in Belgrade today.

"The holding of an extraordinary session of the Pristina Parliament on the situation of the Albanians in the south of Serbia is commendable if this session will contribute to a better understanding," said the Chairman of the Coordination Body for Bujanovac, Presevo and Medvedja Zoran Stankovic.

He expressed his belief that the assistance announced by the Pristina parliament for Albanians in these three municipalities in Serbia will be for the benefit of all citizens living there.

The West's pressure on Serbia is obvious, and the US and its allies are encouraging Kosovo to maintain tensions in the region, said Russia's new ambassador to Serbia, Alexander Bocan-Harchenko.

According to the Sputnik portal, he pointed out that these pressures are felt during the pre-accession negotiations that the European Union leads with Serbia, while the Americans are doing it in an even stronger way.
