Fatherland Movement: Participation in elections in north of Kosovo contrary to Serbian Constitution (BETA, Danas)

National Movement Fatherland from Kosovo and Metohija, headed by Slavisa Ristic, urged all Serbs in the north of Kosovo to boycott mayoral elections in the four northern municipalities, BETA news agency reported.

“By taking part in these elections the Serbs as people are only legalizing and legitimizing yet another Albanian state in the Balkans. This way they are moving away from their motherland Serbia,” the press statement said.

Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija have made the decision to participate in the forthcoming mayoral elections in the northern Kosovo municipalities, Serbian media report.

This was stated after the meeting of the Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic and political representatives of Serbs from Kosovo and Metohija. As it was announced, the decision was taken to prevent Albanians take over control of the north in Kosovo and Metohija by 0.1 or 1 percent (of votes).

Vucic: I told the Serbs to wait for the end of the talks in Berlin (Serbian media)

A meeting of President Aleksandar Vucic with representatives of the Kosovo Serbs was held in the Palace of Serbia. After the meeting, Vucic said in a press conference that he advised them to wait for talks in Berlin, where he will meet with German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron, reports Belgrade based news agency Beta.

"Apart from everything else, Pristina is doing some other things. They want to revoke the right of Serbs to an opinion," Vucic said.

KFOR Commander: Albanian soldiers won’t be deployed in north Kosovo (FoNet, N1)

The Commander of the US Bondsteel base in Kosovo Colonel Roy Macaraeg denied on Wednesday rumors that 500 Albanian soldiers would be positioned in the KFOR Nothing Hill camp in the north and said that 70-strong international force would remain there, the FoNet news agency reported.

The Colonel said that some 800 US, Polish, Turkish and Albanian soldiers were stationed in Bondsteel.

Drecun: Pristina uses election to annul Serb majority will and additionaly raises tension (RTS, N1, Beta)

The head of the Parliamentary Committee for Kosovo Milovan Drecun said the decision to call local elections in the north of Kosovo was Pristina’s intention to void the majority's will of the Serbs and “to install” individuals from the Serb nation, the Beta news agency reported on Wednesday.

Speaking to the public service Radio Television of Serbia (RTS), Drecun said that “the situation among the Serbs could be complicated after this election and Pristina could use that as an excuse to intervene.”

Representatives of Serbs from Kosovo to meet with Vucic (B92, Tanjug)

President Aleksandar Vucic and Government Office for Kosovo and Metohija chief Marko Djuric will meet with political representatives of Serbs from Kosovo.

The meeting will be held at noon on Wednesday in the Palace of Serbia. Participants will then address the media, the president's press service said.

Janjic: Calling for a boycott of elections in northern Kosovo would be a risky move (Beta, Danas)

President of the Ethnic Relations Forum, Dusan Janjic says that the decision to call the elections for the presidents of the four municipalities in northern Kosovo is a deliberate political move based on the Kosovo election law, and at this moment it is difficult to predict how things will develop.

Janjic told Belgrade based news agency Beta that the first possibility is that this is part of a wider campaign of which Belgrade is notified and coordinated by US administration.

''
