Columnist Donik Sallova writes today that for the first time since June elections, last week the parties of the VLAN coalition showed signs of giving up on the demand to have the post of Assembly speaker by claiming that the key objective of the coalition is to undertake reforms so necessary in Kosovo. In a way, adds Sallova, the coalition bloc surrendered to the fact that constitutional procedures as well as the ruling of the Constitutional Court prevent it from electing a speaker from its own ranks.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said today that the process of forming new institutions should be concluded in line with the agreement between the coalition partners. "The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, met today with the party's forum, the chairmanship and leaders of branches, to discuss current developments, the overall political situation and the formation of institutions.

Isa Mustafa, leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), writes on his Facebook account today: “Dear citizens, five months have passed since the agreement between the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and the Initiative (NISMA), later joined by the Vetevendosje Movement, and our efforts to respect democratic procedures and as a parliamentarian majority to form the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo and the government.

A diplomat from a Quint member state told Lajmi on the condition of anonymity that leaders of main parliamentary parties have brought Kosovo on the verge of a political, economic and financial collapse. He said the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and Italy are analyzing the situation and are concerned with the hypocrisy of leaders who do not hesitate to tell the media that they have brought Kosovo to this situation in order to protect the interests of the people.

According to Daut Haradinaj, deputy of the Alliance for the future of Kosovo (AAK), if President Jahjaga does not address once again the Constitutional Court to clarify article 127, if she refuses this request, then elections remain an option. “There is no progress. All are united and waiting. Elections would remain as another option even though it is obvious that parties are not ready for elections. So, I think that elections are an open option,” said Haradinaj for Rrokum TV.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told reporters after the meeting of the coalition bloc with minority communities, that they discussed delays in the formation of new institutions. Haradinaj said minority communities don’t support the option of new parliamentary elections and that he received assurances from communities that they would support the majority. Haradinaj further said the coalition bloc will ask President Atifete Jahjaga to seek additional explanations from the Constitutional Court about Point 127.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told reporters today after the meeting of the coalition bloc that Kosovo should not go to new elections. “It is our good fortune that there is a majority in the Assembly and that this institution will be not held hostage. Mr. Thaci is governing the country with 36 votes. The majority has 63 votes and this situation cannot go on forever. I don’t know who would benefit from elections; the Assembly has a majority. We all need to reflect on the fact that Kosovo is being governed with only 36 votes.

After the meeting with the chairperson of the Assembly’s constitutive session, Flora Brovina, member of the leadership of the Democratic League of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, said that she represented the 62 deputies who signed the request for the session to be held on Thursday and expressed their position regarding this session.

Coalition block and Vetevendosje are determined to continue with the constitutive session of the Assembly tomorrow, no matter if the Democratic Party participates or not. They will even hold a debate and draw conclusions through which they would offer a solution and inform all respective bodies, such as the Presidency and other bodies which recognize parliamentary majority.

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), told reporters after meeting President Atifete Jahjaga today, that the coalition bloc will go to the Assembly session on Thursday with the aim of electing the Assembly Speaker. Haradinaj said a government that has lost the majority in the Assembly should resign. “Cancelling the assembly session or failing to schedule one does not help overcome the current situation. On Thursday we will go to the session with the aim of electing the Assembly Speaker. There will be a debate beforehand.
