New EU chapters if Belgrade - Pristina talks resume in June (N1, Danas)

A possible meeting between Kosovo’s and Serbia’s presidents under the European Union’s auspices by June 25 could help Belgrade open new chapters in its accession talks with Brussels, a daily reported on Friday.

Serbia’s Minister for European Integration, Jadranka Joksimovic, told Danas daily she would present the country’s activities thus far regarding the chapters 23 and 24 related to the rule of law, next week.

RTS: EULEX received court request, has no authority to arrest Laban (Radio Free Europe, Serbian media)

EULEX Mission stated it has received a request from the Serbian authorities in November last year to arrest Radomir Laban, who has been appointed by the Kosovo Assembly as a Constitutional Court judge, but the Mission given its current mandate cannot undertake such action, Serbian media reported.

EULEX added they have informed Basic Court in Kraljevo, which requested their assistance about this fact.

Thaci and Papadopoulou discuss end of EU mission (media)

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, met today the head of EU Rule of Law Mission (EULEX), Alexandra Papadopoulou. A statement issued by Thaci’s office after the meeting, notes that the two officials discussed the ending of the EU mission. Thaci and Papadopoulou agreed that the letter exchange between Kosovo and EU institutions has been finalized and that it foresees EU concluding its mission this year. Thaci also thanked Papadopoulou for constructive approach and cooperation.

President Thaci to seek additional information on Radomir Laban (RFE)

President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci will not decree the newly-elected Constitutional Court judge, Radomir Laban, until a full verification process is carried out by judicial authorities. In a response to the paper, the office of President Thaci said that Laban’s decreeing will not take place at this time due to raised concerns about his past. Laban’s appointment, put forward by the Serbian List, was approved by the Assembly of Kosovo last week.

Todosijevic: Work on the statute of ZSO runs smoothly (Blic, Vecernje Novosti)

The work on the Statute of the Community/Association of Serb Municipalities (ZSO) runs smoothly, and as for the Management Team, the Statute can be completed as planned, until August, says the Minister of Local Self-Government in the Pristina's Institutions Ivan Todosijevic for Belgrade based daily Vecernje Novosti.

He notes that although he is the responsible minister, the Brussels agreements do not leave space for him to insist on seeing the text of the statute before it is presented in a high-level dialogue.

Thaci calls for Kosovo’s equal treatment and visa liberalisation (media)

In Sofia, Thaci meets European leaders (media)

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, has been meeting European officials at the sidelines of the EU-Western Balkans summit underway in Sofia, Bulgaria. In a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras, Thaci said he spoke of the need for strengthening bilateral ties and asked for Greece’s support for visa liberalisation and EU integration. In meeting Italian Prime Minister Paolo Gentiloni, Thaci also asked for Italy’s support for Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic integration. He also thanked Gentiloni for the support Italy has given to Kosovo in different stages.

Ilir Meta and Hashim Thaci invited to ceremony in Medvedja (TV N1, FoNet)

Deputy Chair of Medvedja Municipal Assembly, Florim Sahiti told FoNet news agency that as it was the case last year, presidents of Albania and Kosovo, Ilir Meta and Hashim Thaci are invited to a cultural-sport event in the village of Tupale, near by Medvedja.
