US Secretary of Justice Eric Holder announced that the US will send 70 state prosecutors to the countries of the Balkans, the Middle East and North Africa to help in the fight against terrorists.

NEW YORK - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has attended a reception US President Barack Obama hosted for the world leaders gathered for a meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The reception was held on Tuesday and Nikolic thanked his US counterpart for the invitation and said that Serbia supported in full the US efforts against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Obama thanked Nikolic, commended him on good work and expressed hope that he would continue in that fashion, the Serbian delegation told Tanjug.

President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjaga, met the US Ambassador-at-Large for Global Women’s Issues, Catherine Russell, with whom she discussed the initiatives for empowerment of women in Kosovo. Jahjaga stressed that Kosovo has taken on a proactive approach to increase participation of women in public life and decision-making, including their representation at the Kosovo Assembly.

As with many other issues in relation with the EU and America, the key is that government in Belgrade is determined to persist under heavy pressures from Brussels and Washington, in implementing its policy. If the Serbian government makes it clear that any pressure would be counterproductive and possibly cause consequences to the interests of the EU, especially on Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia could defend the current position - said in an interview Obrad Kesic, head of Office of Republika Srpska in USA, and former political analyst.

From 1 January, when Serbia starts presiding over the OSCE, a hot chair will await our representatives, unless the tensions about reheated cold war calm down. Assigning the role of first among equals in this society is considered a confirmation of the reputation and represents the signal that we are reliable, but the timing for presiding brings with it significant challenges for Belgrade, in the midst of conflict of EU and America on one side and Russia on the other.

The statement of EULEX Chief Investigator, Clint Williamson, that he possess the indisputable evidence to press charges against several former senior KLA officials for war crimes - has caused a hush in the Kosovo Albanian public.

Excluding public statement that the report "will end doubts about unproved accusations," in Pristina press are prevailing restrained, but worried reactions of political parties, and only some local political analysts have the courage to say that the report is a heavy burden for Kosovo.

Serbia is becoming less able to balance and stay neutral. 

The United States will cooperate with any government that comes out of free, fair and transparent elections, said the US Embassy in Pristina regarding the decision of opposition leaders to come together in a coalition and prevent the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) from forming a government. According to US Embassy officials, internal political strategies and discussions on possible coalitions are issues that should be decided by Kosovo leaders. They also noted that the US expects the new government to be formed in accordance with the Kosovo constitution and laws.
