Serbia would easier resolve the Kosovo issue, than to truly reform and harmonize itself with European liberal values, a journalist and foreign policy commentator, Bosko Jaksic told FoNet news agency, adding that Vojislav Seselj is one of Serbia’s EU “progress measure”.

Jaksic pointed out to “a paradox situation” in which the EU over the last months after “selfish insistence on Kosovo,” “thanks to Russians” increased its interest for other spheres as well.

Acting Deputy Assistant US State Secretary Matthew Palmer says that America expects that Belgrade and Pristina, despite problems, continue their dialogue and he hopes for a normalization of relations by the end of the year.

Palmer told the Voice of America in Serbian language that America does not "put special pressure on Belgrade" in the direction of normalizing relations, that is, they make it on all participants in the negotiation process.

USA Ambassador to Serbia, Kyle Scott thinks that question whether ZSO should be established in line with the Brussels agreement or Kosovo laws is contradictory, as according to him, Brussels agreement also says that what would be approved must be in line with Kosovo and Serbia’s laws, RTS reported.

USA supports steps made in the direction of establishing the ZSO, Scott said, adding he expects difficult negotiations, but thinks that recent happenings related to the ZSO are a step forward.

Opponents of Kosovo independence think that even in a case of reaching a legally binding agreement between Belgrade and Pristina on full recognition of Kosovo, very soon a new geopolitical problem would arise, Danas daily reports today.

Associate of Institute for International Policy and Commerce, Dusan Prorokovic thinks that Serbia under no conditions must allow accession of Kosovo to the UN, as it would jeopardize its geopolitical position and open numerous issues.

Serbian Prime Minister, Ana Brnabic said in an interview to Novi Magazin that Kosovo issue cannot stop Serbia’s road to the EU, as according to her European integration is one story, and resolving relations with Pristina is something else.

“European Commission, respectively EU, do not recognize Kosovo independence, they are status neutral and have to be so, since five important EU member states do not and will not recognize self-declared Kosovo independence,” Brnabic said.

Washington supports independent and sovereign Kosovo within existing borders, and EU mediation in resolving the issues. However, in order to strengthen Kosovo sovereignty, USA wants Kosovo to join the UN, and when conditions are met an EU as well.

This is according to American expert for the Balkans, Daniel Serwer. He further told Blic daily Washington wants full normalization of Belgrade-Pristina relations, which implies mutual recognitions and the exchange of ambassadors.

According to political analyst Dusan Janjic, arrest of Marko Djuric was security-political trigger that sped up existing preparations for negotiations in a new format, Tanjug news agency reported.

He expects this new format would include two observers, one from the USA and the other from Germany. He also added that new format in fact means more intensive talks, prepared by political negotiators, and to be “completed by presidents in several meetings.”

Serbian media report this morning on security alert USA Embassy in Kosovo posted on its website on 27 March 2018, referring to heightened risk of terrorist attacks in Kosovo, particularly during holiday seasons.

Serbian President spoke last night for RTS about the meeting with EU High Representative Federica Mogherini and situation in Kosovo and Metohija.

Previously a press statement was issued in which the EU High Representative Mogherini stressed that “what happened yesterday must not happen again.”

Russia and the US have both reacted to Monday's incidents in Mitrovica North and the arrest of Serbian official Marko Djuric.

Both countries have condemned these events, Tanjug reports today.

Russia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs "resolutely condemned" the incident in Mitrovica North, saying it was aimed at "intimidating all Kosovo Serbs."
