The Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) has voted for the motion of no-confidence on the government of Kosovo.

With 78 votes for, 34 against and 3 abstentions, Kosovo Assembly has removed the mandate of the government of Kosovo with Isa Mustafa as Prime Minister. The motion of no-confidence was initiated by the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) and supported by opposition parties. This voting will lead to early elections in Kosovo.

Ismet Beqiri, head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK), assessed Isa Mustafa’s government as the most successful one after the war.

Beqiri said that opposition has a parliamentary power of 30 votes, and stated that LDK would vote against the motion. “Motion with unsustainable data and untruth attributed to this government and Assembly,” Beqiri said.

He also spoke about partnership with the United States of America. “There is no possibility for anyone to bring us apart from this partnership  no matter the intentions of anyone.”

During the Assembly debate on the no-confidence motion for the government, head of the Vetevendosje movement parliamentary group, Glauk Konjufca, counted some of what he called failures of the government of Kosovo, with Isa Mustafa as Prime Minister.

According to Konjufca,  Mustafa became Prime Minister with the agreement which made Hashim Thaci President, a few months after Mustafa held campaign against him.

Head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Zenun Pajaziti, said today at the Assembly that the party MPs would vote in line with the will of the people regarding the no-confidence motion against the government. Pajaziti said it was evident there is stagnation in Kosovo and that the PDK has made continuous efforts to coordinate with the coalition partner decision-making process. “We are here today but there is no coordination. We are united in our positions and therefore call on MPs to carry this will to term,” Pajaziti said.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, left the Assembly session after listening to the speeches of the heads of PDK and LDK parliamentary groups.

During the speech of the head of Vetevendosje movement parliamentary group, Glauk Konjufca, Mustafa left the session, however it is not known if the MPs and Ministers from his party, would leave as well.

Before the voting of the co-confidence motion sponsored by the opposition parties, Prime Minister of Kosovo Isa Mustafa said it was a “political pamphlet” containing false arguments. “The motion is aimed at destabilizing the country by fuelling mistrust with the institutions and creating an institutional vacuum to hide corrupt affairs,” he said in his speech before the Assembly members. Facts are different, he said and went on to list achievements which he said were reached during his government’s mandate.

The government of Kosovo postponed the meeting scheduled for today where it was expected to submit the border demarcation agreement to the Assembly for ratification. In a statement, the government said the decision to postpone came after consultations between coalition partners - the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) and the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) – held in the presence of U.S. representatives.

MPs of the Serbian List in the next few days will decide whether to support a request for a vote of no confidence in the Government of Kosovo, which the Kosovo Assembly will consider on Wednesday, said Slavko Simić to RTV KIM.

Serbian List wants to continue the processes that are of vital importance for the Serbian community in Kosovo and the process of dialogue, said President of the Serbian List.

Simić ads a "negative atmosphere was created among deputies."

The Assembly of Kosovo might hold during the following days a debate for amendment of the Law on the Special Chambers and the Office of the Specialized Prosecutor. The Commission for Legislation has decided to return the request of six MPs for an Assembly debate on the Special Court, to the Assembly Presidency.

Kosovo Assembly’s committee on education, science, technology, culture, youth and sports failed to endorse the draft law on higher education due to lack of quorum. Representatives of the opposition parties walked out of the committee’s meeting after accusing the government of heeding Serbian List demands by withdrawing the bill from the voting procedure at the Assembly. At the same time, committee’s chairman from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Nait Hasani, admitted he believed the draft law to be political.
