The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said that he expresses concern and disagreement of the government of Kosovo regarding Ramush Haradinaj’s arrest in France.
He said that the government considers that Serbian arrest warrants for Kosovo citizens are illegal, politically motivated and with clear tendencies to induce tensions and conflicts as well as affect processes in the region and further.
The Serbian Ministry of Justice has sent an extradition request for Ramush Haradinja to the French judicial authorities.
Tanjug reported this on Tuesday, citing ministry sources.
Along the extradition request, Serbia sent the accompanying documentation translated into French, based on which the French judicial authorities will decide whether conditions have been met to extradite Haradinaj.
Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Dhurata Hoxha, said they have requested French authorities to unconditionally release the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Ramush Haradinaj, detained last week on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia.

These are unlawful and unjust act aimed at provoking tensions and blocking Kosovo’s Euro-Atlantic perspective,” said Mustafa at today’s cabinet meeting. He added that all government departments are making efforts to secure Haradinaj’s release as soon as possible.
France’s ambassador to Kosovo, Didier Chabert, told Klan Kosova said that the detention of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) leader Ramush Haradinaj could have been avoided had he informed the French Embassy that he was planning to travel to France. Chabert said the detention was part of a regular procedure being that Haradinaj was on Interpol’s list of wanted people. He also said that French authorities have been informed of the “sensitivity” of the case but the court needs to be base its decision on legal arguments.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) has called a peaceful protest today in Pristina demanding the release of its leader Ramush Haradinaj. Haradinaj was detained two days ago by French authorities on an international arrest warrant issued by Serbia. RTK reports that Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) will also join the protest for Haradinaj’s release as will KLA war associations.
Head of the War Crimes Prosecutor Milan Petrović said tonight that the proceedings against the former Hague indictee and the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo, Ramush Haradinaj, who was arrested in Basel on a warrant Serbia, does not become obsolete.

The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) deputy leader, Ardian Gjini, asked the government of Kosovo to halt talks with Serbia and ban Serbian officials entering Kosovo following the detention of the party leader Ramush Haradinaj by French police on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia. In a press conference today, Gjini said Haradinaj is expected to appear before a court today in France and that they hope the French authorities will realize that Serbia’s arrest warrants against Kosovo leaders are not aimed at serving justice but instead at denigrating Kosovo.
