Vetëvendosje to participate in the debate on demarcation (Indeksonline)

Vetëvendosje Movement parliamentary group coordinator, Naim Jakaj, today confirmed that representatives of this party will participate in the debate on border-demarcation with Montenegro scheduled for 3 August. Jakaj did not give any names on who will represent Vetëvendosje but said there will be MPs and experts on the issue. “We don’t have a final list yet because we are waiting for confirmation from some of the professors and experts. We will publish the list of participants within a few days,” Jakaj said.

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaçi, expressed conviction that the debate on demarcation expected to be held on 3 August, will unify the government and opposition, which currently hold different positions with regards to the borderline between Kosovo and Montenegro.

He told the media after the meeting with the head of Kosovo’s Olympic Committee, Besim Hasani,  that daily politics should be left aside and that state interests should be a priority.

Border demarcation debate set for 3 August (RTK)

President of the Kosovo Assembly, Kadri Veseli, said today that the presidency has decided to call a round table on the issue of border demarcation with Montenegro on 3 August. Veseli said the round table as well as the debate on the matter should have taken place much sooner but, “better late than never.” “It is in our interest to protect the territory of Kosovo,” said Veseli further. At the same time, the regular plenary session of the Assembly has been scheduled to take place a day after the debate, on 4 August.

Government of Kosovo postpones sending border demarcation agreement to Assembly (Telegrafi)

Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said in today’s meeting of the government that the draft law for ratification of the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro will not be immediately sent to the Assembly for approval in order to give more time for the issue to be discussed with MPs and the public. According to Mustafa, Kosovo is not losing territory through the agreement and the debate will confirm this.

According to him, issues of national importance such as demarcation, must overcome the political differences. However, when asked whether the coalition between the Democratic Party of Kosovo and Democratic League of Kosovo is in crisis, Kuci said there is no crisis in the ruling-coalition.
