Nikolic confers with Ban Ki-moon (Tanjug, Beta,Blic,B92,Akter,Press)

NEW YORK - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly session in New York on Wednesday.

According to the readout of the meeting, Ban and Nikolic exchanged views on Serbia's EU integration process, the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, the cooperation between the United Nations and Serbia, including Serbia's role in UN-mandated peacekeeping missions, as well as the country's upcoming OSCE Chairmanship.

Serbian president attends reception hosted by US president (Tanjug)

NEW YORK - Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic has attended a reception US President Barack Obama hosted for the world leaders gathered for a meeting of the UN General Assembly in New York.

The reception was held on Tuesday and Nikolic thanked his US counterpart for the invitation and said that Serbia supported in full the US efforts against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria.

Obama thanked Nikolic, commended him on good work and expressed hope that he would continue in that fashion, the Serbian delegation told Tanjug.

Jahjaga ready for a meeting with Nikolic (Danas)

Pristina, Belgrade - Kosovo President Atifete Jahjaga is open for a new meeting with the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, whenever needed, whether on a regional or international level, the cabinet of the President of Kosovo said to Danas, answering the question of whether a meeting is planned and when of the highest representatives of Belgrade and Pristina.

On the other hand, in the cabinet of President Nikolic, after several attempts, we were unable to get any comment on the date of the next meeting of two presidents.

Nikolic: We would lose friends by taking sides (B92, Tanjug)

 Tomislav Nikolić says he wishes to see an end to hostilities in Ukraine, "not only because of Serbia's specific position - but for the sake of people there."

 "If they reach an agreement, it will be for the good of the people. If not, then it will be bad for the people, people in eastern Ukraine will suffer, it's obvious. I had a chance how people suffer on the example of the former Yugoslavia and what it's like when big (powers) get involved and start deciding alone on someone's fate."

DSS claims that SNS violated the promise (Danas)

Many people believe that victory of Tomislav Nikolic, the candidate of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS), in the second round of the presidential elections which were held in 2012, was due to the support of the Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS). However, the agreement signed by then the leaders of the two parties is binding only for DSS.

As top SNS officials claim, Progressives are interested in reforms and the entry of Serbia into the EU, which implies a change in the Constitution.

Janjic: Provocation of a small group in Gazimestan (RTS)

Archimandrite Sava Janjic said that whistling of the "Zavetnici" members during the speech of the President of Serbia in Gazimestan, is an organized provocation by those "who mostly did not show respect for the holy place and the moment."

Janjic said that members of the organization "Zavetnici" were chanting during speech of the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic at Gazimestan, not the people who gathered to hear his speech.

Janjic: There is a risk of abuse of Serbs from the north (RTK2)

Political analyst Dusan Janjic believes that there is a risk of abuse of Serbs from northern Kosovo with the aim of tightening relations and abandonment of the Brussels agreement and its implementation.

Those familiar with Kosovo’s political circumstances have different perceptions of the event during the St. Vitus celebration on Gazimestan and incidents during the speech of the President of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolic, to whom a part of the crowd derogatory chanted, calling him a traitor.
