"Legally binding agreement with Pristina is not recognition" (RTS, Blic)

Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic told Radio Belgrade that Serbia "will do everything to, by 2018 or 2019, complete the negotiations with the EU so the organization can make a political decision on Serbia's full membership.

Dacic says that progress on all other chapters will depend on the progress made in chapter 35, which concerns normalization of relations with Pristina; he says " the problem is that it is not clear even to European Union what all implies this chapter.

Government: Serbia has not reactivated the military radar in Kopaonik (telegrafi.com)

The government of Kosovo issued today a press release to refute recent reporting of some media based on the announcements of NGO “Kosovo Center for Security Studies”, that the military radar in Kopaonik mountain, bombed by NATO forces in 1999 has been reactivated.  “The government of Kosovo has communicated officially with KFOR and received official confirmation on the issue. KFOR within its competencies commences regular inspections of the location of the demolished radar, to verify its condition.

Ambassador Kirby: Vucic and Mustafa to meet on 27 January (N1)

US Ambassador to Serbia Michael Kirby said in talking show "Pressing" on TV N1 that the prime ministers of Serbia and Kosovo will meet on 27 January.

Speaking about the talks with Pristina, Kirby points out that it is good that there is constant contact and "already on 27 January, the prime ministers will meet".

Ambassador Kirby praised the work of Dacic's and Vucic's government, and the President Nikolic, and that he supports their work on the road to the EU, economic reforms, the dialogue with Pristina.

Albanians and Serbs getting closer (Klan Kosova)

Kosovo and Serbia do not sign agreements only in Brussels. On Monday they signed an economic agreement in Belgrade. This settlement came as a result of the joint meeting of Kosovo’s and Serbia’s Economic Chambers. Senior level officials of the both governments participated at the event, together with dozens of businessmen. Politicians were reserved about this meeting. Kosovo’s Minister for Economic Development, Blerand Stavileci, did not mention the word “Republic” even once.

EU standards should be the same for Kosovo and Serbia! (Koha Ditore)

KTV’s editor-in-chief Adriatik Kelmendi in his opinion piece argues that Kosovo and Serbia are part of Europe and that European standards should be applied to solve problems between Kosovo and Serbia. "Albanians through dialogue wish to round up the process of independence and sovereignty and to be equal with the other countries of the world in this regard.  Serbs know that they cannot stop this, but at the same time require much more autonomy and rights for members of their community in Kosovo.

The negotiating position of the European Union on Chapter 35, which relates to the Kosovo issue resolution, in essence, has not brought anything new, Danas learns from diplomatic sources close to Brussels. Dragan Djukanovic, the Center for Foreign Policy, says that ahead of Serbia, in the coming years on the road to the EU, a lot of work and above all, that it should align its legislation with EU legislation.

He expects also from the European Union to put pressure on Pristina, as soon as possible, primarily to unblock the agreement on the Community/Association of Serbian municipalities.

Serbia has opened the two initial chapters for European Union membership, entering this way an important phase of the process of European Union integration. EU Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, said during the European Union-Serbia accession conference in Brussels on Monday that this is only the beginning of the process. “This is the beginning of the negotiations. We will see during the coming years.
