EU is dead, don't give up Kosovo, French officer tells Serbs (BETA, B92)

Retired French Colonel Jacques Hogard, who in 1999 protected Serbs in Kosovo after the withdrawal of the Yugoslav Army, met in Belgrade with Milos Jovanovic, leader of opposition Democratic Party of Serbia (DSS), BETA news agency reported.

According to a press release, Hogard and Jovanovic, discussed the situation in Kosovo, as well as the political situation in France and in the European Union.

Russian President Vladimir Putin says his country respect the Serbian leadership's decision to join the EU. “Unlike our Western partners, we do not try to pose an artificial dilemma for Belgrade and make Serbia choose whether to be with Russia or with the European Union," Putin said in an interview for Serbian dailies Politika and Vecernje Novosti.

Kossev: The opposition movement Local Front on a four-day long protest march

The members of the opposition movement Local Front (Lokalni front) from Kraljevo are walking on foot from their hometown to Belgrade to protest, where they will join tens of thousands of dissatisfied citizens, on the fact that Oliver Ivanovic’s killers and instigators remain unknown a year later.

On their four-day, 170 kilometers-long journey to Belgrade, the Local Front members have won sympathies from people across Serbia and the region.

Security agency prevents terrorist attack in Serbia – report (Blic, Tanjug, B92)

Armin Alibasic, a member of a Wahhabi movement dubbed "Dava Tim Centar" who was arrested on January 13 in Novi Pazar, was preparing a terrorist attack. According to Blic, Alibasic was prevented in this attempt by officers from the Security and Information Agency (BIA) and by the police.

Alibasic spent several hours before being arrested in a village near the Serbian Orthodox Monastery of Djurdjevi Stupovi, where he had been practicing martial arts in previous years, as well as tactical military training, camping and survival.

Albania is encouraging the achievement of the final agreement between Belgrade and Pristina, as it will enable the unification of Albania with Kosovo, said Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama, reports Belgrade based daily Blic, quoting Pristina based Zeri.

Kocijancic: Special Court for KLA does its job (Blic, Tanjug)

EU Spokesperson Maja Kocijancic, said, in relation to the interrogation of the first witnesses in the Special Court for the war crimes in The Hague, that the court “does its job” adding the EU is clear when it comes to the reconciliation in the region and the war crimes issue.

“It is not up to me to comment on the work of the court. The court does its job. In a wider context when it comes to the EU relations with the region, reconciliation is one of the crucial principles,” Kocijancic noted.

Vucic: When US pressure Pristina there would be results (Tanjug)

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic told Tanjug news agency when the US reacts strongly and shows its influence, there would be results as well.

He said this, in relation to the US request to Pristina to immediately revoke the taxes imposed for goods from Serbia or face sanctions.

President Vucic noted that imposed taxes stopped the dialogue, adding that frozen conflict with Pristina is the worst possible solution, as according to him, if frozen conflict melts, we will all go down.
