EU: Kosovo to explain and revoke decision on import taxes (N1)

The European Union has said Pristina’s decision to raise import taxes on goods from Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina in response to what it feels is Serbia’s destructive behaviour, was unexpected and the bloc has demanded an immediate explanation of the move, media reported on Wednesday.

The 10 percent higher import taxes were imposed on milk and milk products, water, biscuits, construction materials and fruit juices.

10th country revokes recognitition of Kosovo (B92)

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic announced on Wednesday that he expected another country to withdraw its recognition of Kosovo.

B92 later learned, and it has in the meantime been confirmed, that recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo has been withdrawn by the Union of the Comoros - a small island state in the Indian Ocean that recognized Kosovo in 20009.

Previously, Dacic said that Pristina is describing the withdrawals of Kosovo's recognition as lies and defamation, because it "hurts."

“Resolution of Kosovo and Metohija crucial for Serbia” (B92)

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic, who takes part in the Web-Summit in Lisbon spoke with German ARD journalist Marcus Price. While discussing political topics, the PM Brnabic said that for Serbia resolution of Kosovo and Metohija issue is crucial.

She noted Serbia remains committed to finding a compromise solution in dialogue with Pristina, adding that stability in the region is also important.

Brnabic underlined that EU membership is Serbia’s strategic aim.

Serbian Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic announced that he expects another country to withdraw recognition of Kosovo's independence today.

"It will be the tenth country that has withdrawn recognition," Dacic told RTS on Wednesday.

The recognition of the unilaterally proclaimed independence of Kosovo is expected to be withdrawn by the Union of the Comoros - a small island state in the Indian Ocean that recognized Kosovo in 20009 - B92 has learned in the meanwhile.

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci and Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will resume the dialogue this week in Brussels, Pristina-based Koha Ditore and Belgrade-based Tanjug news agency reported last night.

This announcement arrives in the midst of intense discussions on the legally binding agreement between Kosovo and Serbia. Vucic and Thaci have simultaneously been announcing ethnic delimitation between Serbs and Albanians, i.e. border correction, which was harshly criticized by their oppositions.

"Presevo valley must feature in normalization of relations" (B92, Tanjug)

Ragmi Mustafa says "there cannot be normalization" between Belgrade and Pristina "without inclusion of the Presevo valley."

Mustafa is the new President of the Albanian Minority National Council in Serbia.
"Presevo valley" is the informal name for a region in the southern part of central Serbia that has ethnic Albanian minorities in three of its largest towns: Presevo, Bujanovac, and Medvedja.

MEP: Kosovo key issue, Europe doesn’t want conflicts (N1, Blic, B92, RTK2)

The question of Kosovo is a crucial issue because it is necessary to know how to live with a neighbour to be able to exist within the European Union, Knut Fleckenstein, a member of the European Parliament (EP) told N1 morning show on Tuesday.

He has insisted that the EU does not want to import rivalries and that is why Belgrade and Pristina have to find a way to solve their problems.

Jeremic: We should not accept Vucic’s game (BETA, B92, KoSSev)

Leader of Peoples’ Party Vuk Jeremic said it is wrong to insist on hasty solutions to the Kosovo issue, respectively, to willingly accept redrawing of borders based on ethnic principle, BETA news agency reported. Jeremic added such solutions cannot be sustainable on the long term.

Commenting on a potential referendum on Kosovo, Jeremic noted he believes Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic will not miss a chance “to hide behind peoples’ will” and that he would call for extraordinary elections and, in this way, “try to simulate peoples’ support for his agreement with Hashim Thaci.”
