The opposition, including civil society, shoulder a burden that is bigger than focusing only on the end of this government. CDHRF says Vetevendosje activist in Lipjan detention centre is fine (Koha Ditore)

The Kosovo-based Council for Defence of Human Rights and Freedoms (CDHRF) has looked into the concerns raised by Vetevendosje that one of its activists, Atdhe Arifi, is being “psychologically terorrised” at the Lipjan detention facility. CDHRF visited Arifi and concluded he was in a good psychophysical condition. The CDHRF monitors also met the psychologist of the detention facility who confirmed that Arifi was in a stable condition and there is no room for concern.

Bajrami: Brussels didn't make effort to clarify things (N1, FoNet)

In Pristina there are more perspectives on the current policy of the Government of Serbia, but the common is "huge suspicion that something essential has changed," says the Chief Editor of the daily Koha Ditore, Agron Bajrami.

In an interview with the FoNet agency, Bajrami explains that there is a belief in Pristina that the Serbian government has continuity in policy towards Kosovo as well as the governments before, because it refuses to recognize Kosovo's independence.

UNDP presents Human Development Report (Koha Ditore)

The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) presented yesterday in Pristina two reports: Making the Labour Market Work for Women and Youth and Risk-Proofing the Western Balkans: Empowering People to Prevent Disasters. The report on the labour market for women and youth highlights that the widespread unemployment and passivity leaves an ample amount of human potential unused, misused or underused.

New Head of EU Office in Kosovo/EU Special Representative Nataliya Apostolova takes up posts (Koha Ditore)

The new Head of the EU Office in Kosovo and the EU Special Representative, Nataliya Apostolova, has taken up her posts today, 1 September 2016.

Ms. Apostolova, a Bulgarian national, has served both in her national diplomatic administration and in the European External Action Service for over 25 years. Most recently, she was the Ambassador and the Head of the EU Delegation in Tripoli, Libya.

Renegotiation is a state interest (Koha Ditore)

Veton Surroi considers that renegotiation of the agreement for the demarcation of the border between Kosovo and Montenegro is an interest of Kosovo, because, according to him, this would create an internal consensus. He also considers that it is an interest of Kosovo and Montenegro for the demarcation to happen based on the consent of both parties. Currently this is not possible being that one of the parties is not unanimous, he writes.
