Elections for the mayors of four municipalities will be held on Sunday in the north of Kosovo, RTS reports. In the next five days, candidates will have the right to hold rallies and present themselves to voters.

Zoran Todic, a Serbian List candidate for Mayor of Leposavic municipality told RTS that the elections are organized in an atmosphere of fear and uncertainty. He invited all citizens who have the right to vote to go to the polls.

Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama points in an exclusive interview to Belgrade based TV Pink that he strongly advocates a new era in Albanian-Serbian relations and believes that Serbs and Albanians can do for the Balkans what France and Germany did for Europe.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic and US Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs Matthew Palmer spoke on Wednesday in Sarajevo.

The conversation was about the current situation in Kosovo and Metohija, tariffs and the possibilities for the continuation of dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, the Serbian Government announced.

The Europe Union stance is clear – Pristina must revoke its decision on the 100 percent import tariffs on goods from Serbia to enable dialogue on normalization of relations to resume, and both sides have to commit to the talks, as they have no alternative, Sem Fabrizi, the chief of the EU delegation in Serbia told TV N1.

Speaking for TV N1 morning program Fabrizi said the EU hoped that Belgrade and Pristina would return to the negotiations as soon as possible.

Aleksandar Vucic, Serbia’s President, said in Berlin on Tuesday Kosovo could not consolidate itself as a state without Serbia, the Belgrade-based news agency reported.

He said Serbia had been internationally recognised country and a UN member state, so it did not need Kosovo’s recognition.

Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic says that key messages from the Berlin meeting yesterday focused on an attempt to unblock the stalemate in the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue, reports RTK2 quoting Croatian news agency Hina.

He added that the views of Belgrade and Pristina are quite distant

After five months the daily newspapers from Serbia can be purchased at kiosks this morning in northern Kosovo, Radio KIM reports.

Zvezdan Mihajlovic from KIM Beokolp company which is distributing the newspapers told Radio kontakt plus that additional 100 percent tariffs, Pristina introduced last year on goods from central Serbia, were paid, however the price of the newspapers would remain the same as in central Serbia.

The region has not made good use of CEFTA, aimed at making the Western Balkans a single economy and preparing the market for the EU, says Mirsad Jasarspahic.

Political decisions such as (Pristina's) introduction of taxes are among the reasons for this, the vice president of the Chamber of Economy of the Federation of Bosnia-Herzegovina (one of the two entities in Bosnia-Herzegovina) has said.

Serbian Prime Minister Ana Brnabic said in Belgrade yesterday that the abolition of Kosovo's tariffs on goods from Serbia was “a minimum of the minimum" for continuing talks with Pristina.

She added that she did not expect much from the upcoming meeting in Berlin.

Correspondent of the Belgrade based news agency Beta from Brussels, Dragan Blagojevic told N1 that the international dimension of the Kosovo problem is reflected in the internal plan - elections.

"Obviously, this is double-tied, as merged vessels. I see the postponement of the decision on elections in function, among other things, not only of internal politics, but it is obvious that Kosovo had a specific weight," Blagojevic says.
