The Government of Kosovo is committed to step up efforts in preventing extremism and terrorism, said today Prime Minister Isa Mustafa in a meeting on the implementation of the national strategy for prevention of violent extremism and radicalism. Mustafa said Kosovo is a small country but has its share of responsibilities in the global fight against terrorism. “Consequences from terrorism are great, long-term, and necessarily require a joint alliance,” said Mustafa. He said the Government of Kosovo has defined concrete objectives in the fight against terrorism and radicalism.

Kosovo’s Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, told Klan Kosova the protest organized by the opposition does not ensure the organization of new elections, regardless of the number of citizens that participated in the protest.  He added that all citizens' requests will be considered.  “We are very responsive to citizens in fulfillment of our promises. It is the right of the opposition to protest and also the citizens should know why are they protesting, but protests cannot justify new elections,” Mustafa said.

Some political analysts in Pristina are arguing that early parliamentary elections, requested by the opposition parties, are a dangerous option given the current political circumstances. Officials at the Central Election Committee (CEC) told the news site they are ready to organize elections at any time but that there is no indication that they could be held soon. CEC chairperson Valdete Daka said no one has contacted her about the possibility of early elections. “No one has requested this, no one has contacted us and we are not making any preparations.

Beqe Cufaj considers today that frustration and conclusion that the current opposition which raises only the issues of the “Association” and “Demarcation” cannot be supported, is understandable. To him, the current opposition is only the other side of the coin, or different faces with the same intention. He regrets for the lack of a third wing or an alternative that would breach the dreams of current politicians for power and corruption.

Representatives of the Kosovo institutions have pledged to prepare a final report on the fulfillment of the criteria for visa liberalization by 15 January 2016. A press release issued by the government said that Prime Minister Isa Mustafa met with representatives of the institutions in charge for fulfilling the visa liberalization criteria where it was said that concrete results on this regard will be published on 15 January.

The news site reports that a delegation of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) led by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa laid flowers at the monument of former LDK member and publicist Enver Maloku who was gunned down by unknown assailants in January 1999. Mustafa was quoted as saying that he hopes the Special Court, which has yet to become operational, will shed light on the killings of LDK members. “We have gathered here today to express our outrage with the despicable act and also to express our commitment to help resolve these killings and bring the perpetrators to justice,” Mustafa said.

After meetings of the expert teams of Belgrade and Pristina with the delegation of the European Union, which will be held for ten days, will be known what will be the topics of discussion between the Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Isa Mustafa, the end of January in Brussels.

At the end of the year press conference, the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said that 2015 is characterized by two different approaches: “The government approach to implement the governing plan and resolve problems of the citizens, and that of the opposition, to impede the processes and the work of the government.” He said that opposition used teargas, impeded the work of the Assembly, destroyed public property and attacked government officials.

The government of Kosovo concluded today’s meeting where they stressed that the government would not annul or renegotiate the agreement for Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities.

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, praised his party at the ceremony organized for the 26 anniversary of the establishment of the Democratic League of Kosovo. He said that he is conducting LDK’s authentic spirit and faith in the democratic processes of Kosovo also at the government that he is currently leading.
