NATO chief to visit Belgrade October 6-8 (B92, Tanjug)

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will be visiting Belgrade October 6-8, NATO has announced.

According to a press release, during the visit Stoltenberg will meet with President Aleksandar Vucic and Prime Minister Ana Brnabic.
On October 8, Stoltenberg will join Vucic for the opening ceremony of the civil emergency exercise "Srbija 2018", co-organized by the NATO Euro-Atlantic Disaster Response Coordination Center (EADRCC) and the Serbian Ministry of Interior, NATO said.

“NATO won’t leave Kosovo, army only in accordance with Constitution“ (Blic)

NATO, neither have plans to leave Kosovo nor to reduce the presence there, NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg said today, Blic daily reported.

“We have no plans to leave Kosovo. KFOR plays an important role in Kosovo and help secure stability and peace. Any reduction of the mission would depend on the situation on the ground. It is not on the agenda now. We are following the situation, and the situation is as such now that the presence of NATO is necessary,” Blic quoted NATO SG Stoltenberg.

Thaci meets NATO Secretary General (RTK)

The President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, met in Canada with the NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg.

They discussed the security situation in the region. Thaci informed Secretary General Stoltenberg about the campaign initiated by Kosovo institutions to involve the non-majority communities in the Kosovo Security Force. He also said that NATO role on guaranteeing peace in the region is irreplaceable.

NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg says that transformation of the Kosovo Security Forces can be done only in accordance with the Constitution, Serbian media reported.

Stoltenberg told a joint news conference with Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic in Brussels yesterday afternoon that he "clearly stated his position" on this issue "many, many times."

In an interview NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg gave to Blic daily yesterday, topics such as depleted uranium, Kosovo army, and communities’ acceptance of the army were touched upon.

Asked to comment on lawsuits by 300 Italian soldiers suing NATO because they suffered from incurable diseases after their service in Kosovo that was bombed with depleted uranium, NATO SG stated that NATO is in Kosovo to help stabilize the region and avoid violence and unrests.
