EUEOM: Two faces of Kosovo Municipal Elections

Alongside the negotiations on forming a parliamentary majority in Pristina, preparations are being made to transform the Kosovo Security Force into an army.

Sputnik is reporting it learned unofficially that the formation of the Kosovo army will be an item of the agenda of a future government, and of the Assembly in Pristina.

The Serbian List submitted its list for mayors and councillors for the upcoming local elections in Kosovo scheduled for 22 October. The candidate of the Serbian List for the mayor of the municipality of Gračanica/Graqanicë is Srđan Popović, the deputy in the previous convocation of the assembly.

Former Mayors - Bratislav Nikolić, Gradimir Mikić, Svetislav Ivanović, Stevan Vulović, Vučina Janković and Goran Rakić - were nominated for the municipalities of Štrpce/Shtërpcë, Ranilug/Ranillug, Novo Brdo/Novobërdë, Zubin Potok, Zvečan/Zveqan and North Mitrovica.

Non implementation of the Brussels agreement on the judiciary is a major problem for the Serb community in Kosovo. This was said during a public discussion organized by the Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC) in North Mitrovica.

Judge Jelena Krivokapić said that she and her colleagues do not have any information about the date of the beginning of functioning of an integrated justice. She also said that nobody tells them anything, that they do not know the reasons for it and that they work with reduced capacity.

NATO SG to Blic daily: There is no establishment of Kosovo army without Serbs acceptance

In an interview NATO Secretary General, Jens Stoltenberg gave to Blic daily yesterday, topics such as depleted uranium, Kosovo army, and communities’ acceptance of the army were touched upon.

Asked to comment on lawsuits by 300 Italian soldiers suing NATO because they suffered from incurable diseases after their service in Kosovo that was bombed with depleted uranium, NATO SG stated that NATO is in Kosovo to help stabilize the region and avoid violence and unrests.
