Kosovo: One year since integration of judiciary (Radio kontakt plus)

More than two and a half years after the agreement in Brussels on the integration of the judiciary, in October 2017, 42 judges on Serbia’s pay roll and 14 prosecutors were integrated into the Kosovo judicial system. The integrated justice system in northern Kosovo is not fully functional even after six months and citizens face many problems because of it.  According to the research of the Advocacy Centre for the Democratic Culture (ACDC), Courts do not have citizens' trust and still do not work in its full capacity, reports Kontakt plus radio.

In a public discussion on Thursday in the Centre for Civil Energy in Mitrovica North, problems of the citizens were mentioned in regards to claiming their rights before the courts.

MP of the Serbian List, Igor Simic says that the Kosovo Judicial system has increased its quality with the integration of Serbian judges, reports Kontakt plus radio.

Serbian judges arrived at workplaces, the Albanian under escort (Kontakt plus radio, Kossev)

Serbian judges and administrative staff, as well as their Albanian colleagues, came to their workplaces at the Kosovo Basic Court in northern Mitrovica this morning at eight o'clock.

Sometime after eight o'clock and their Albanian colleagues arrived in a bus and under police escort, reports Kossev.

Whether this court today officially started to work, Kossev failed to obtain confirmation.

Kosovo: In progress the selection of judges and auxiliary staff (RTS)

In less than a month in the north of Kosovo, the court and the prosecutor's office should start working; it was agreed in Brussels at the last meeting of Serbian and Kosovo Presidents, Aleksandar Vučić with Hashim Thaçi. The Kosovo Judicial Council undertook all technical actions, candidate admission is done, and now in progress are works for the arrangement of the court building in the northern part of Mitrovica.
