In order to improve position of women in politics, education, organization and networking are needed, but also greater visibility in the media – these are conclusions from the conference held on Wednesday in Mitrovica North, organized by NGO Advocacy Center for Democratic Culture (ACDC), Kontakt plus radio reported.

Jaksic for referendum on Kosovo, but in fair conditions (KIM radio)

Citizens of Serbia to declare on Kosovo in a referendum might be the right solution if it takes place under fair conditions, says Marko Jaksic for RTV KiM, a member of the Presidency of the Movement of Serbs from Kosovo "Fatherland".

Unknown assailants shot Oliver Ivanovic this morning in North Mitrovica, and he soon succumbed to injuries, it was confirmed to Belgrade daily Blic.

Ivanovic was killed in a shooting occurred around 8.15 this morning in Mitrovica North.

Ivanovic's lawyer, Nebojsa Vlajic, told Blic that Ivanovic, unfortunately, succumbed to injuries.

- It seems that he passed away on the spot. As far as we know, he has five bullet wounds. He was immediately taken to the hospital, doctors tried reanimation, but there was no salvation - Vlajic told Blic.

Rakic: Arrests of Serbs in Kosovo must stop (KIM Radio)

Arrests of Serbs in Kosovo based on principle of “two witnesses” and without evidence must stop, mayor of the Mitrovica North municipality, Goran Rakic told KIM Radio.

Rakic also warned that such arrests intimidate Serb returnees.

“The experience tells us they arrest as a rule, reputable Serbs who wish to return to their places of origin, as Bozidar Mitrovic,” Rakic said.

Health station demolished in Suvi Do (KIM Radio, BETA)

The health station of Mitrovica Health Centre, located in the mixed settlement Suvi Do, nearby Mitrovica North was demolished last night and currently is not working, KIM Radio reported.

This is the second attack against this health station over the last month.

“It is obvious the attack is ethnically motivated aiming to deny Serbs access to health. The ultimate goal is to ethnically cleanse this part of Mitrovica North municipality,” Health and Medical Centre Director in Mitrovica North, Milan Ivanovic told BETA news agency.
