The head of the OSCE in Kosovo, Jan Braathu, said in a visit to the north of Kosovo that the OSCE is pleased with the way the Serbian presidential elections are going. “A lot of people have come out to vote and if it continues like this, we will be very happy. The OSCE staff are in charge of every phase of this process. I’ve spoken to my colleagues outside and they tell me that things are going smoothly,” Braathu told the media outside one of the polling stations in the north.

Officials from the Serbian Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) announced that the voter turnout for presidential elections until 10 o’clock was 10.56 percent. The turnout in central Serbia by this time was 9.73 per cent, in Vojvodina 12.06 percent and in Belgrade 9.79. As for Kosovo, the OSCE spokesperson Senad Sabovic told Serbian media that the voter turnout in 90 polling stations across Kosovo has been 5.23 percent by 10 o’clock. According to Sabovic, the voting is going well and no major irregularities have been reported.

RIK President Vladimir Dimitrijevic says the opposition "has no reason to doubt the legitimacy of the electoral process in Kosovo and Metohija."

Dimitrijevic came out with this statement after Sanda Raskovic-Ivic, who heads an opposition parliamentary group, described the instructions for the holding of the presidential elections in Kosovo, which the Republic Electoral Commission (RIK) adopted late last night, as "unconstitutional and allowing for electoral fraud."

Kosovo President Hashim Thaci says that Pristina has not yet reached a decision with regard to the elections for the president of Serbia.

And although the Kosovo institutions have not yet taken a position on the holding of the Serbian presidential elections in Kosovo, the OSCE have confirmed their readiness to provide technical help to implement them.

Head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo Ambassador Jan Braathu said soon will be known whether the people of Kosovo with Serbian citizenship would be able to vote for the President of the Republic of Serbia in the elections scheduled for the 2nd of April.

Braathu recalled in the show "Free Serbian" that the OSCE few times so far technically assisted in the organization of Serbian elections in Kosovo.

On February 27, the Austrian Chairmanship of the OSCE held a high-level conference on Freedom of the Media in the Western Balkans, at Hofburg in Vienna.

Until now used method of determining the results of voting in Kosovo and Metohija for the elections in Serbia was not in accordance with the law, according to the decision of the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Serbia (CCRS) in June 2016. The upcoming presidential election will be the first after this decision of the Constitutional Court of Serbia.

President of Kosovo, Hashim Thaci, said today at a conference organised by the OSCE that journalism in Kosovo may not be the oldest in the region but it is definitely one of the bravest. He said that although often faced with pressure, intimidation and even death, journalists in Kosovo have never ceased to seek the accurate information and publish it.

The OSCE Mission in Kosovo has presented two journalist associations in Kosovo with its Safety Guide manual.

The Association of Journalists of Kosovo and the Association of Journalists of Serbia in Kosovo also received desktop computers, laptops, and printers.

The ceremony was attended by the presidents of the two associations, Shkelqim Hysenaj and Budmir Nicic, and the head of the OSCE Mission in Kosovo's media section, Dane Koruga.

Albanian Foreign Minister, Ditmir Bushari, in his address to the 23rd OSCE Ministerial Council taking place in Hamburg spoke about regional cooperation and Kosovo. “We have made good progress in regional cooperation with Western Balkans countries. There are six countries in this format and we look forward to Kosovo having a seat at this table as a participating state,” said Bushati. He encouraged the upcoming Austrian chairmanship of the OSCE to “explore ways of ensuring that this organisation does not discuss about Kosovo, without Kosovo.”
