The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, issued a statement following yesterday’s opposition protest calling on the people of Kosovo to join the efforts for change. Haradinaj said the protest conveyed several messages with the first and foremost being that the people of Kosovo will no longer tolerate violation of the Constitution and the undermining of the territorial integrity, bad governance, nepotism, corruption and institutional irresponsibility. “Today is the time to make a difference,” said Haradinaj.

Haradinaj told reporters that he had requested the dissolution of the Parliament and new parliamentary elections. Haradinaj also said that another request of the opposition bloc is for the President of Kosovo to be elected directly by the people.

Pristina-based Lajmi news site reports that Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli decided not to attend the meeting of political leaders called by President Atifete Jahjaga because he did not want the meeting to fail. Unnamed sources told the news site that it was Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), who said that Veseli should not attend the meeting.

The leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Ramush Haradinaj, declared today that Kosovo needs a solution as soon as possible to overcome the current crisis. Beqe Cufaj considers today that frustration and conclusion that the current opposition which raises only the issues of the “Association” and “Demarcation” cannot be supported, is understandable. To him, the current opposition is only the other side of the coin, or different faces with the same intention. He regrets for the lack of a third wing or an alternative that would breach the dreams of current politicians for power and corruption.
