Serbs soon to discuss support to candidate for President of Kosovo (KIM Radio)

Minister for Communities and Return in the Kosovo government Dalibor Jevtić stated today that the Serbian List will present its official stance over the coming days on its support to candidates for President of Kosovo. He added that almost all MPs from this list believe that Serbs should have their own candidate.

CEC suspends 14 parties due to incomplete documentation (KoSSev)

Kosovo Central Election Commission (CEC) suspended 14 political parties yesterday upon justification that these parties did not submit necessary documentation to the Office for Registration and Certification of Political Parties in Kosovo. The deadline was 31 January 2016.

Among the suspended parties are parties representing non-majority communities, such as the Montenegrian Party, the United Gorani Party, Social-Democracy, the New party of Kosovo and the Serbian People’s Party of Kosovo.

Austrian FM to visit Kosovo tomorrow (RTK)

Austrian Foreign Minister Sebastian Kurz is expected to visit Kosovo and meet institutional leaders tomorrow. Kurz is currently on a tour of Balkan countries and is visiting Albania today. Yesterday, he was in Belgrade and met Serbian Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic. Kurz called on leaders in Serbia to intensify dialogue for normalization of relations with Kosovo as a precondition for EU membership.

The front page editorial of the paper says that yesterday’s meeting between party leaders at the office of the President did not offer anything new, instead, it only proved that the governing coalition has no intention to compromise with opposition, and that protests throughout Kosovo remain the only solution. According to Kosova Sot, the President failed to offer any interesting options either.

Fleckenstein: Cooperation between Serbia and Kosovo necessary (Danas)

The European Parliament’s Resolution on Serbia acknowledged its reform process in the course of last year, which led to the opening of chapters 32 and 35 in negotiations on EU membership. In relation to recent adoption of the progress report presented by the EP Rapporteur for Serbia David McAllister, the Vice-President of the caucus of socialists and democrats in the European Parliament, Knut Fleckenstein, says that he believes that Serbia undoubtedly achieved good progress.
