Thaci’s election becomes complicated: Serbs with five demands (RTK)

Hashim Thaci’s election has gotten quite complicated. The Serbian List is asking for five demands to be met, otherwise they will leave the Assembly session, making it impossible for Thaci to be elected president. Gazeta Express has learned that the demands of the Serbian List are related to the agreements reached in Brussels during the discussions between Pristina and Belgrade. It is not known whether these demands can be technically fulfilled today.

O’Connell: The Situation is very dangerous (Express/RTK)

The Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Kosovo, Ruairi O’Connell, replied on his Facebook page to the questions of Kosovo people. Citing reliable sources, the news site reports that members of the Kosovo Assembly will elect the new President of Kosovo on Friday at 11:00. The same sources said that the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) Hashim Thaci, will be faced with a counter-candidate for the post of President, namely Rafet Rama from the PDK. The news site also notes that Thaci is expected to resign his post as party leader before attending the extraordinary Assembly session on Friday.

Mustafa does not speak about the election of the president (Gazeta express)

The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, did not want to speak today about the holding of the session for the election of the president of Kosovo.

The French Ambassador to Kosovo, Maryse  Daviet, appealed for the continuation of the discussions with Serbia, and stressed that they are beneficial for the future of Kosovo. She once again stressed the support of France in Kosovo’s journey towards European integration. Daviet made these statements during a lecture held in front of the students of AAB College.

Mustafa hopes Special Court will shed light on killings of LDK members (Gazeta Express)

The news site reports that a delegation of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) led by Prime Minister Isa Mustafa laid flowers at the monument of former LDK member and publicist Enver Maloku who was gunned down by unknown assailants in January 1999. Mustafa was quoted as saying that he hopes the Special Court, which has yet to become operational, will shed light on the killings of LDK members. “We have gathered here today to express our outrage with the despicable act and also to express our commitment to help resolve these killings and bring the perpetrators to justice,” Mustafa said.

Kosovo government to recognize diplomas from University of Mitrovica North (Gazeta Express)

The government of Kosovo during its meeting today voted the criteria for issuing certificates for the Kosovo citizens who received undergraduate diplomas from the University of North Mitrovica.  All those who received degrees from this University, their diplomas will be recognized if they meet the set criteria. Kosovo Deputy Prime Minister, Branimir Stojanovic, said that despite the delay, this decision is welcomed.

Thaci: The EU is insulting and provoking us (Gazeta Express)

Kosovo’s First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Hashim Thaci, said today that he was disappointed with the EU’s delay in granting visa liberalization to Kosovo. “This is a direct insult against the people of Kosovo. We have worked for so many years in meeting the criteria and standards so that we can enjoy all rights as citizens of Europe. I am disappointed with the EU’s delay with visa liberalization. This is a serious provocation and a result of the inability of the EU. The people of Kosovo must know the truth. We have met all the criteria required for visa liberalization.
