Vetevendosje movement’s nominee for Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, met Tuesday morning with the leader of the Alliance for New Kosovo (AKR), Behxhet Pacolli.

Lajmi.net has learned from its sources that the meeting took place at Swiss Hotel in Pristina. Media reported about another meeting between these two leaders on Monday. These meetings come after the 11 June elections, where none of the Albanian parties gained majority of votes to establish the government.

Vetevendosje’s candidate for prime minister, Albin Kurti, said in an interview with KTV that if elected he would not continue talks with Serbia in the same way as in the past and that he would work on establishing direct talks with Kosovo Serbs. “We would not stop dialogue with Serbia but our government would have certain conditions to its resumption. Serbia would have to agree to the principle of reciprocity with Kosovo. I believe we wound find many friends that would support our stance towards Serbia,” Kurti said.

Basic Court in Pristina has issued an arrest warrant for former Vetevendosje leader Albin Kurti for failing to show up at the hearing in connection to use of teargas in Kosovo Assembly. A judge said that Kurti will be issued a detention measure. At the same time, Koha also reports that two Vetevendosje activists have been arrested this morning by the police.

Avni Arifi, member of the Presidency of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) today reacted to the statement of Vetëvendosje MP, Albin Kurti, who said that the current demarcation deal might bring war in Kosovo.  Arifi said Kurti’s statement only urges the MPs to vote for the current demarcation agreement.  “Kurti's threat that voting demarcation agreement means war with Montenegro only urges the MPs to vote this agreement. How can it bring war if those elected by the people vote for it.

Kosovo Assembly MP from Vetëvendosje movement Albin Kurti, announced for the 1 September a peaceful pan-national protest against demarcation. He said that this protest will take place because “we cannot allow legitimization of treachery at the Assembly.”

Albin Kurti has long been a thorn in the side of authorities in Kosovo. A vocal critic of Serbian rule, he is now a member of parliament not averse to using tear gas on rival MPs to drive his message home.

Several media report that former Vetevendosje leader and Kosovo Assembly member, Albin Kurti, was pelted with eggs by two persons today as he was entering the Assembly premises. Police managed to arrest one of the attackers. The Vetevendosje Movement later issued a press release saying it suspects that the attackers were police officers in civilian clothes.
