The head of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) parliamentary group, Adem Grabovci, told the news site today that, as far as the special court is concerned, PDK MPs will vote in accordance with Kosovo’s national interests. Grabovci did not want to say if the PDK has enough votes to pass the constitutional amendments that enable the establishment of the special court. “We want to have a fair process and as soon as we get the draft law we will discuss it with fellow MPs. I am confident that MPs will vote in line with our country’s interests.

The Office of the Kosovo President, Atifete Jahjaga, has reacted to the statements the Serbian President Tomislav Nikolic made against Jahjaga at the Brdo-Brijuni regional summit. Jahjaga’s office said that Nikolic caused a “paradoxical situation” and reverted to his old rhetoric after being outraged by the serious and equal treatment of Kosovo in the summit.

Mitrovica mayor, Agim Bahtiri met with the mayor of Mitrovica North municipality, Goran Rakic and head of the Administrative Office in the north, Adriana Hodzic.

 During this meeting which lasted almost three hours, they discussed the general situation in both parts of the city, assessing that the current security situation is calm and with tendency to relax further. They also discussed continuance of the cooperation on the issues of joint interests for Mitrovica people.

The Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) will soon publish the names of the party’s presidency. A source within the LDK told Botapress that party leader Isa Mustafa has decided to appoint Haki Rugova, Agim Veliu and Lutfi Haziri, all mayors in their respective municipalities, as members of the party’s presidency. Vjosa Osmani has not been included in the LDK General Council and will no longer be part of the party’s presidency. According to the same source, Sabri Hamiti will no longer be deputy leader of the LDK.

The Constitutional changes that enable the establishment of the special court will not go for approval to the Assembly on its next session (Thursday) this week. After the meeting of the Assembly Presidency, Speaker Kadri Veseli said that the draft submitted to the government for the changes required by the MPs has not yet returned to the Assembly.  "During the last session, MPs have sought changes in the draft. So, when the government sends it to the Assembly, we will proceed further," Veseli said.

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli met today with the Regional Director of UNICEF for Central and Eastern Europe, Marie Pierre Poirier. Veseli and Poirier discussed Kosovo's relations with UNICEF and the development of projects for children. Veseli thanked Poirier for UNICEF's continuous support for the children of Kosovo, considering this a valuable contribution to the promotion and protection of children's rights.  Poirier said that UNICEF will continue with projects in all areas related to the rights, welfare and education of children in Kosovo.

A delegation of the Vetevendosje Movement has visited the residents of Kumanovo on Monday. The delegation was represented by Driton Caushi, Glauk Konjufca, Aida Derguti and Salih Salihu. They met with residents of whose houses were damaged during the armed incident two weeks ago.

Serbia has increased its demands regarding telecom and energy in Kosovo which are still being discussed in Brussels between the Pristina and Belgrade delegations.

The Presidency of the Kosovo Assembly today did not include on the agenda of 21 May the constitutional amendments required for the establishment of the special court that will address war crimes allegations. Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli told reporters after the meeting that additional consultations were needed to reach a consensus among the parliamentary parties. “The most important thing is to have international partnership and a national consensus,” Veseli said. “Allow me to reiterate that Kosovo’s economic development should be our priority.

Kosovo Prime Minister Isa Mustafa expressed concern over, as he said, attempts to manipulate the public by allegations that he had prior information from the Kosovo Intelligence Agency (KIA) about events in Kumanovo, FYROM.
