Jahjaga, lauerate of CGI prize (RTKlive)

The President of Kosovo, Atifete Jahjga, will participate at the “The Future of Imact” activity, which will be held in New York, organized by “Clinton Foundation.”

President Jahjaga’s political adviser, Arber Vlahiu confirmed that Jahjaga is also laureate for the Clinton Global Initiative (CIG) prize. He added that the President has received the invitation two months ago. This activity gathers around 1000 internationally most successful names from the world of business, politics and civil society.

Veseli commends the agreements, expects official reports (RTK)

Kosovo Assembly Speaker Kadri Veseli through a press statement welcomed the agreements reached in Brussels between Pristina and Belgrade and said he expects official reporting on the process and the content of the agreements. “We believe that the Government, which has all the legitimate authority to represent Kosovo and to make decisions in the dialogue with Serbia, is at the right level of political maturity and its responsibilities that derive from the Constitution of Kosovo.

Preshevo Valley also seeks ‘autonomy’ (RTK)

The Albanian National Council in the Preshevo Valley has reacted following the signing of the agreement between Kosovo and Serbia on the establishment of the Association/Community of Serb majority municipalities last night in Brussels. The Council expressed deep indignation over the position of the Albanian community in Preshevo Valley and calls for concrete and coordinated actions in addressing issues that are vital to Albanians living in the area.

Kosovo Mufti Ternava meets head of UNMIK Zarif (RTK)

Kosovo Mufti Naim Ternava received in a farewell meeting the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General Farid Zarif. Ternava thanked Zarif for his work, contribution and engagement in Kosovo and wished him success in his new mission. Ternava also praised the work and the contribution of the United Nations for Kosovo. Zarif, on his part, thanked Ternava for the cooperation during his mission in Kosovo and also noted the progress Kosovo has made in this period.

Isa Mustafa’s Deputy in support of Ivanovic (RTKlive)

Deputy Prime Minister of Kosovo from the Serbian List, Branimir Stojanovic, was present at the organized protest in support of the leader of Citizens’ Initive SDP, Oliver Ivanovic and the other defendant, Dragolub Delibashic. Stojanovic even held a speech in front of the protesters, saying that they would never leave Oliver Ivanovic alone. “Oliver and any other Serb will not be alone at this point. Never ever,” said Stojanovic. The protest, where 600 people were allegedly present, started at 10:00 and concluded thirty minutes later.

Haradinaj: Kosovo should hold national elections this year (RTK/Epoka)

Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), said in an interview with Epoka e Re that Kosovo should go to early national elections in October this year “in order to save itself from the bad governance of [Prime Minister] Isa Mustafa”. Haradinaj did not rule out the possibility of the AAK, Initiative for Kosovo and the Vetevendosje Movement, running with a joint list in the event of early elections. The AAK leader also said that the special court is an unnecessary experiment and that it benefits only Prime Minister Mustafa.

SG Ban concerned with delays in establishment of special court (RTK)

In his recent quarterly report on Kosovo, the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon expressed concerns over delays in establishment of special court by the Kosovo Assembly which he said undermine Kosovo’s image and present lost opportunities to set an example of justice and accountability. The report covers the period between 16 April and 15 July and was sent to the members of the Security Council before the Kosovo Assembly approved the amendment paving way for establishment of special court.

Mustafa: Formation of special court shows we support justice (RTK)

Kosovo Prime Minister, Isa Mustafa, said today in his address to the Kosovo Assembly, that Kosovo must clarify allegations of crimes committed during and after the war. “Kosovo needs to act responsibly vis-à-vis the obligations it has assumed. Resubmitting the constitutional amendments [on the special court] protects Kosovo’s sovereignty. It will be damaging for Kosovo if this issue is decided according to the UN Security Council Resolution 1244,” Mustafa said.

New US Ambassador advises Kosovo leaders to establish special court ASAP (RTK)

The new United States Ambassador to Kosovo, Gregory Delawie, said on Wednesday that Kosovo’s leaders should establish the special court as soon as possible. “The next couple of days will be crucial for the country. I honestly hope that Kosovo will pass the legislation on the establishment of the special court, and bring justice for those who suffered at the hands of those involved in crime. The failure of local institutions to establish this court means that many things will go backwards,” Delawie said during a ceremony at the State Department in Washington.
