The new head of UNMIK (Danas)

Afghanistan now joined Denmark, which for 16 years of a UN protectorate in Kosovo had two heads of UNMIK. By the decision of the UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, the outgoing UNMIK chief Farid Zarif will be replaced by his compatriot Zahir Tanin, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan in the world organization. The ninth head of the UN Mission in Kosovo should take office on August 31.

Dacic to attend UNSC session on Kosovo on Friday (Dailies)

Serbian First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivica Dacic will represent Serbia at the regular session of the UN Security Council (UNSC) on Kosovo.

During the session, Dacic will reflect on the report of the UN secretary general concerning UNMIK work for the period April 16-July 15 2015, and he will also voice Belgrade's assessment of the current situation in Kosovo and UNMIK actions, the Serbian Ministry of Foreign Affairs released.

The United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon today announced the appointment of Farid Zarif, of Afghanistan, as his Special Representative for Liberia and head of the United Nations Mission there, known as UNMIL, Klan Kosova reports. Currently the Special Representative and head of the UN Interim Administration Mission in Kosovo (UNMIK), Mr. Zarif has extensive experience in diplomatic, international and United Nations affairs, having served in various positions inside and outside Afghanistan.
