The draft resolution on Kosovo in CoE (Vecernje Novosti)

The Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the CoE adopted in Brussels, the preliminary draft resolution "The situation in Kosovo and the role of the Council of Europe." The report deals with the issues related to the respect for human rights, rule of law, the position of minorities in Kosovo and democracy.

Dacic will attend UNSC session on Kosovo (Blic)

The UN Security Council will discuss tomorrow in New York the new report of Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Kosovo. Serbia will be presented at the session by Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, was announced by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Serbia. On this occasion Dacic will present the Serbia’s assessment about the current situation in Kosovo and on UNMIK activities.

Ban: ZSO is foundation of the Brussels Agreement (RTS)

UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon's latest report on Kosovo stressed the importance of establishing the Community / Association of Serb Municipalities (ZSO). Ban welcomed the "continued progress" in Brussels dialogue and agreements that Belgrade and Pristina reached on 25 August, and in particular, he said, the agreement on the establishment of ZSO which, in his opinion, is the "foundation" of the Brussels agreement on the normalization of relations between Belgrade and Pristina, from April 2013.

Former UNMIK Heads: Kosovo in UNESCO because of peace between Serbia and Kosovo (Kossev)

Before the session of the General Conference of UNESCO, in which will be decided about  the membership of Kosovo in this organization, four former heads of UNMIK - Bernard Kouchner, Michael Steiner, Soren Jessen-Petersen and Joachim Ruecker, sent an explicit letter of support for Kosovo's membership in UNESCO. Describing themselves as "independent individuals" who know the situation, they say that UNESCO "cannot afford to refuse giving support to Kosovo and its people."

UNMIK: Scenes of violence in the Kosovo parliament must not repeat (Blic)

UNMIK today most sharply condemned the violence in the Kosovo Assembly and extreme means used by opposition in order to prevent the work of the parliament and called opposition parties to act responsibly.

“Such actions have no place in a democratic society. They work directly against the interests of Kosovo and the interests of all those who have democratically elected their representatives to the Assembly,” reads the statement of the UN mission in Kosovo.

According to the writer of this opinion piece, Faik Krasniqi, the international community is in a way testing the justice in Kosovo to understand if they are ready and brave to face crimes of different natures committed political and parapolitical “big fish” after the war in Kosovo. However, it is difficult to believe that Kosovo judges and prosecutors would be courageous to face the big fishes of political and business mafia.

Kosovo Mufti Ternava meets head of UNMIK Zarif (RTK)

Kosovo Mufti Naim Ternava received in a farewell meeting the UN Special Representative of the Secretary-General Farid Zarif. Ternava thanked Zarif for his work, contribution and engagement in Kosovo and wished him success in his new mission. Ternava also praised the work and the contribution of the United Nations for Kosovo. Zarif, on his part, thanked Ternava for the cooperation during his mission in Kosovo and also noted the progress Kosovo has made in this period.
