Meucci agrees with expert’s criticism towards EULEX (RTKLive)

The head of the European Union Rule of Law Mission in Kosovo (EULEX), Gabriele Meucci, commenting the report prepared by the independent investigator, Jean Paul Jacquet, who investigated allegations of corruption in EULEX, has stated that he agrees that the mission has not yet achieved its objectives in the fight against corruption. Meucci, in a clarification letter send to media wrote that the mission cannot sit blindfolded towards the criticism that Jacquet wrote in his report.

Koha online has published the press release of the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor which notes that "regarding the recently published report of the independent expert, Jean-Paul Jacqué, the Office of the Chief State Prosecutor would like to thank Mr. Jacqué, for his work and efforts. At the same time there is a need to emphasize that the named report did not take any stance whether there was or was not any corruption inside the EULEX mission.

"Full investigation into EULEX corruption claims needed" (Blic, B92, Tanjug)

EP Rapporteur for Kosovo Ulrike Lunacek has said that a report that found no evidence of corruption in EU's mission in Kosovo, EULEX, "is only the first step."

The Austrian MEP called for "a full investigation into the work of the EU rule of law mission."

"The report is an important first step, but some questions remain unanswered," Lunacek said on her website.

Expert criticizes EU's handling of Kosovo corruption allegations (Reuters)

A French law professor criticized on Tuesday the European Union's handling of corruption allegations involving an EU mission in Kosovo, the bloc's biggest civilian mission abroad.

EU foreign policy chief Federica Mogherini asked Jean-Paul Jacque to investigate last November after allegations emerged in the media that the EU mission had covered up evidence of bribe-taking by senior staff in cases of murder and corruption.
