Klacar: OSCE will most probably organize elections in Kosovo (Tanjug, Blic)

So that elections for the Serbian parliament can take place in Kosovo, an agreement needs to be reached between Belgrade and Pristina, through mediation of the EU and Washington, says Bojan Klacar from the Center for Free Elections and Democracy (CESID), and added that it is expected that the OSCE will organize the technical side of the elections, as was the case in 2014.

Civil society activists call for early elections (Koha)

In an open letter, a group of civil society activists urged the people of Kosovo to support early elections as the only way to resolve the current political stalemate. “We live in days of mistrust in the country’s institutions, of doubts in the power of the citizen and in the possibility for social change. Therefore, we support calls for early parliamentary elections,” the letter signed by eleven civil society figures reads.

Serbian elections, challenge for Kosovo (RTK)

The government of Kosovo has not yet taken a stance on whether it will allow Serbian parliamentary elections to be held in the predominantly-Serb municipalities. Deputy Minister of the Local Government and Administration Bajram Gecaj told Radio Kosova that the government of Kosovo has not yet discussed Serbian elections in Kosovo. Meanwhile, political analysts say Kosovo institutions should treat the subject with caution.

Mustafa gathers MPs, requests guarantees for Thaci’s election (Gazeta Blic)

The leader of the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) and the Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, has called the MPs from his party to meet tomorrow at 13:00 p.m. Sources within the party told Gazeta Blic that Mustafa will request them to vote Hashim Thaci for President of Kosovo. He will ask them to at least be present at the Assembly to establish the required quorum for voting Thaci for President,” said this source. Several MPs from LDK announced that they will prevent Hashim Thaci from being elected.

Serbia’s general elections also in Kosovo (Koha Ditore)

Serbia’s general elections are expected to be held also in Kosovo, and OSCE will be most probably requested to offer technical help.

There will be no local elections of Serbia, being that Brussels agreement obliges Kosovo Serbs to hold their elections according to Kosovo’s election system.

Head of the Council for Kosovo at the Serbian Assembly, Milovan Drecun, told Belgrade media that Serbia’s general elections will be held in Kosovo, no matter eventual obstacles by Pristina.
