Ružić: Interest of Serbs in Kosovo is important (Dnevnik, Tanjug)

Minister of State Administration Branko Ružić believes that the interest of Serbia and the Kosovo Serbs is maximal involvement in the work of Kosovo institutions, and one should not be guided by emotions or myths.

"It is our interest to be maximally involved in order to preserve, above all, the right to the existence of the 150,000 Serbs living down there," Ružić said, commenting on the formation of a new Kosovo government, led by Ramush Haradinaj.

The 120-seat Kosovo Assembly on Sunday elected Ramush Haradinaj, the PDK-led coalition candidate, as new head of the Kosovo government.

61 voted in favor, while one member of the Assembly abstained.

After the session, members of the Self-Determination and the coalition gathered around the LDK left the session and did not attend the taking of the oath of office of Haradinaj and the members of his government.

Government officials react after being stopped at Jarinje (B92, Tanjug)

Kosovo police have prevented Education Minister Mladen Sarcevic and Office for Kosovo and Metohija Director Marko Djuric from entering Kosovo.

They were stopped on Monday at Jarinje - an administrative crossing between Kosovo and central Serbia.

Tanjug is reporting that Sarcevic and Djuric were on their way to Kosovska Mitorivca, where they were to open a student health-care institution at the Student Center.

Rakić: Reducing the UNMIK mission would be very harmful to Serbs in Kosovo (Blic)

The President of the Serb List Goran Rakić says that UNMIK is irreplaceable as an impartial arbiter of human rights in Kosovo, and that any further reduction or devaluation of that mission would go directly to the detriment of the Serbian people and all non-Albanian communities in the province.

“Dialogue does not mean Serbia’s readiness to recognize Kosovo” (Tanjug, Klan Kosova)

Head of Serbia’s Parliamentary Commission for for Kosovo, Milovan Drecun said today that the initiative to start an internal dialogue on Kosovo, does not mean that Serbia is ready to recognize Kosovo as an independent state, but to deal with proposals and see final solution of the problem.

According to him, Serbia’s proposal for the solution of the Kosovo problem should be presented to Albanians and the international community, in order to open discussions on the matter, reported Serbian news agency, Tanjug.

Tanjug agency and Novosti daily reported on statements Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic made during an interview to Happy TV station, and related to the possible Kosovo solution.

Vucic expressed hope that Serbia would have enough strength to put things on a rational level and if it does not happen, Serbia would carry this defeat on its shoulders.

Kocijancic: Serbia's EU membership depends on relations with Kosovo (Tanjug, Klan Kosova)

Maja Kocijancic, EU's Spokesperson for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy/European Neighborhood Policy and Enlargement Negotiations told Serbian news agency Tanjug that the speed and date of Serbia’s joining the EU depends mainly on Serbia’s progress on implementation of reforms and normalization of the relations with Kosovo. Djuric: EU has lost authority over Pristina (Tanjug)

Marko Djuric, Director of the Office for Kosovo at the Serbian Government, said that Brussels is losing authority over Pristina.

Djuric expressed fear that elections in Kosovo would not only mean waste of time for the dialogue between Belgrade and Pristina, but they also represent continuance of the political radicalization.

Germany "does not accept changing borders in Balkans" (B92/Tanjug)

German Ambassador to Serbia Axel Dittmann says that "all statements aimed at changing borders in the Balkans are dangerous."

Germany "does not accept that," he told the Belgrade daily Vecernje Novosti in an interview.

"We say it publicly, and that is the position of the EU," the German diplomat said, adding that it was "important that all sides lower tensions and move forward."

PM and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic says the statements regarding a unification of Albania and Kosovo "will remain only in the realm of wishful thinking."

Vucic also asked their "protagonists" - i.e., Albanian PM Edi Rama and Kosovo President Hashim Thaci - "not to be publicly presenting something like this, because it does not contribute to good relations in the region."
