In a visit to the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) offices, Albanian Prime Minister Edi Rama said the detention of Ramush Haradinaj by French authorities on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia is “completely unnecessary” and that that both the governments of Albania and Kosovo are working on making sure Serbia’s arrest warrants against Kosovo leaders are revoked.
The news websites report that the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Ramush Haradinaj has been released on bail today by a court in Colmar, France. The court however ruled that Haradinaj cannot leave France and is to report to the authorities twice a week. The AAK reacted to the decision saying its leader should have been unconditionally released by the French authorities. “We appeal on French judicial mechanisms to speed up procedures and end any measure against Ramush Haradinaj,” the AAK wrote in a statement.
The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Isa Mustafa, said that he expresses concern and disagreement of the government of Kosovo regarding Ramush Haradinaj’s arrest in France.
He said that the government considers that Serbian arrest warrants for Kosovo citizens are illegal, politically motivated and with clear tendencies to induce tensions and conflicts as well as affect processes in the region and further.
Kosovo’s Justice Minister, Dhurata Hoxha, said they have requested French authorities to unconditionally release the leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) Ramush Haradinaj, detained last week on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia.
The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) deputy leader, Ardian Gjini, asked the government of Kosovo to halt talks with Serbia and ban Serbian officials entering Kosovo following the detention of the party leader Ramush Haradinaj by French police on an arrest warrant issued by Serbia. In a press conference today, Gjini said Haradinaj is expected to appear before a court today in France and that they hope the French authorities will realize that Serbia’s arrest warrants against Kosovo leaders are not aimed at serving justice but instead at denigrating Kosovo.
Kadri Veseli, President of the Kosovo Assembly and leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), said that this month he will organise a round-table with political leaders to discuss major unresolved issues such as the Association/Community of Serb-majority municipalities and the border demarcation with Montenegro. Representatives of opposition parties however are saying that they will not attend the roundtable if the ruling parties will only try to “recycle” these issues.
Ramush Haradinaj, leader of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), has received an invitation to attend the inauguration of Donald Trump as President of the United States of America in January next year. An advisor to Haradinaj confirmed the information and said that further details would be revealed in a press communique later during the day.
Vetevendosje MP Rexhep Selimi told Zeri that Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic appoints the Serb ministers in the Kosovo Government. “The Serb ministers in the Kosovo Government and the Serbian List in general do not represent the Kosovo Serbs but rather Belgrade’s policies in Kosovo’s institutions … Through the Serbian List, the Serbian Prime Minister is keeping hostage the state of Kosovo. Because of this relation, Kosovo does not have its army today and it even lacks full control over the whole police force,” Selimi added.
Several news websites report that the Kosovo Assembly has decided to discuss on Friday the recently-built wall in Mitrovica North. Pal Lekaj, head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) parliamentary group, initially suggested that the wall should be discussed today but later agreed for discussions to be held on Friday. Assembly President, Kadri Veseli, said he agrees with Prime Minister Isa Mustafa’s proposal to discuss the matter on Friday.
Pal Lekaj, head of the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) parliamentary group, suggested that Kosovo authorities should invite the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) to conduct investigations into Vetevendosje activist Astrit Dehari’s death. Lekaj recalled that the FBI had already provided such an expertise in the case of Dino Hasanaj, former head of the Privatisation Agency of Kosovo. “The AAK never tried to benefit from anyone’s tragedy.
