“Srpska Lista (SL) expects that EU and the entire international community until Friday would exert strong pressure on Pristina, so the latter gives up on legal arrangements on creating the so-called Kosovo army,” member of SL Slavko Simic said, RTV KIM reports.

EULEX Mission stated it has received a request from the Serbian authorities in November last year to arrest Radomir Laban, who has been appointed by the Kosovo Assembly as a Constitutional Court judge, but the Mission given its current mandate cannot undertake such action, Serbian media reported.

EULEX added they have informed Basic Court in Kraljevo, which requested their assistance about this fact.

President of Kosovo Hashim Thaci will not decree the newly-elected Constitutional Court judge, Radomir Laban, until a full verification process is carried out by judicial authorities. In a response to the paper, the office of President Thaci said that Laban’s decreeing will not take place at this time due to raised concerns about his past. Laban’s appointment, put forward by the Serbian List, was approved by the Assembly of Kosovo last week.

Daily based in Belgrade Vecernje Novosti today writes, in a article entitled "The Pristina Plan: They push defeated ones at the helm of Partes," that if the Constitutional Court of Kosovo is guided by political rather than legal arguments and it supports the Appeal Panel's request for the repetition of the vote in the municipality of Partes, it is possible that the protest will be radicalized.

Kosovo’s Constitutional Court has overturned appointment of Enver Peci to head the Supreme Court and called on the judicial council to launch a new hiring process.  The decision came after Valdete Daka, currently head of the Central Election Commission (CEC), submitted a complaint to the Constitutional Court claiming that Peci’s appointment was marred with irregularities.

Kosovo's Constitutional Court announced its decision on the constitutionality of the Law on strategic investments which finds that the law is in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo. The request to review the constitutionality was submitted by the Serbian List MPs. The Constitutional Court rejected the request for provisional measure as unenforceable under Article 43.2 of the Law on the Constitutional Court.

Three opposition parties – Vetevendosje, the Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK), Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) – will submit to the Constitutional Court request to review the legality of the amended law on Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA) veterans passed by the Kosovo Assembly on 30 December 2016. In a statement to the media, Vetevendosje said MPs Aida Derguti and Time Kadrijaj will submit the request today. The opposition claims the law has wrongly categorized KLA veterans.

The news website reports that the Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) is planning to seek an opinion from the Constitutional Court of Kosovo on President Hashim Thaci’s involvement in the municipal elections in Drenas/Glogovac. NISMA officials however have neither denied nor confirmed the information. Citing unnamed sources, Indeksonline reports that NISMA is planning to hire an international lawyer for the matter. The same sources said NISMA have collected sufficient material which they hope will prove to the court that President Thaci is violating the Constitution.

Kallxo.com reports that an EULEX judge from the Kosovo’s Supreme Court Special Chamber has claimed that the law on Trepca mining complex is unconstitutional for two reasons, both relating to the fundamental right to property. The judge has addressed the Constitutional Court asking it to once again review the legality of the Trepca Law and annul it. The judge maintained that the economic goal of the Trepca Law was to take over the assets from the socially-owned enterprise to the newly-created shareholders association but the latter takes over no obligations.

"The Constitutional Court maybe unwittingly had become an instrument of political decisions," told RTV KIM, Deputy Nenad Rašić about the decision of the Constitutional Court to reject the Serbian List's request to assess the constitutionality of the Trepča law.
