The Kosovo Assembly’s Committee for Economic Development adopted today in the first reading the draft law on the Trepca mining complex, which will be discussed at the plenary assembly session on Friday. Serbian List representative, Sasa Milosavljevic, said Serb MPs would not vote in favour of the draft law in its current content. He also criticised the government for not inviting Serb representatives to attend discussions on the draft law.

Opposition parties in Kosovo have not welcomed the government’s request to change their position on the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro, the news website reports. The Alliance for the Future of Kosovo (AAK) and Initiative for Kosovo (NISMA) said today they were not willing to make any compromise that damages the country. AAK deputy leader, Ahmet Isufi, said the government needs to dismiss the committee that worked on the border delineation and to resume negotiations with Montenegro. “The government committee made mistakes in their work.

The Kosovo Assembly did not adopt an amendment to the draft law on strategic investments proposed by the Serbian List which would protect the interests of Kosovo Serbs, it is said. It is expected that the amendment will be again on the agenda of some of the next sessions of Parliament.

Kosovo Assembly MP from the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK) said that Kosovo is not experiencing its best days when liberalization of visas is concerned. Haliti made these comments during the meeting of the parliamentary committee for Stabilization Association where they spoke about the liberalization of visas and preparations for the second Kosovo-EU meeting which will be held on 23 and 24 November in Brussels.

Kosovo Assembly President Kadri Veseli, said today that the Assembly Presidency has decided that the next Assembly session will be held on Friday and that Trepca bill will be part of the agenda. He said he was confident that the bill will pass.  Veseli also said that the border demarcation agreement with Montenegro will be put into vote soon.

Serb members of the Kosovo Assembly did not participate at the September 1 session that was scheduled to vote on the border demarcation agreement between Kosovo and Montenegro. Following the Serb boycott, the ruling coalition was forced to remove the border deal from the assembly’s agenda. Prime Minister Isa Mustafa said a broad-based roundtable would be organised with political parties to discuss the border deal with Montenegro, but the meeting has yet to take place.
